Story
adoption donation : $599 weight 33 lbs  Age: 5 months as of 12/15    Felicia is a sweet, friendly girl who just loves everyone she meets, she is one of our F puppies, along with her brothers Freddy, Frankie, and Felix, the siblings are adorable puppies who were dumped on a rural road in Mississippi with no houses in sight, sadly, this is all too common in Mississippi.       But despite their sad beginning  the puppies are happy and thriving. They are Black mouth curs which are just awesome medium sized family dogs, never met one that wasn’t super mellow, and just the most affectionate and easy-going dog. These three boys and one girl are full of sloppy puppy kisses and wiggles and love to romp and play and then snuggle together for a puppy nap.    The F puppies have had vaccinations and are spayed and neutered.    Wags is a struggling 501(c) 3 where one woman in rural Mississippi takes care of about 150 homeless and stray dogs.  Adoption donations are the only source of funding for the rescue. Adoption fee includes the transport from Mississippi, vaccines, microchip and spay and neuter at one of the clinics we use. Story
~ Caspian is about 56lbs, and 12 years old (but you'd never know it). We think he's a black mouth cur mix. He's up for cuddle time or play time whenever you are. He's a sweet boy  who is easy to get along with loves  everyone and affection.  He may be a senior but he doesn't seem to know it.  He loves his walks and running in the yard, loves to snuggle and take long naps too.  He would do best in a home without small children. He is fine with cats, and he's crate trained, house broken, and neutered.  Please email us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com to find out if Caspian is the right one for you! (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US!  We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php and http://www.hollysden.com/say_no_to_shock.htm (scroll down and click on the  "Invisible Fencing Systems" link). We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line. For Meet & Greet times and locations, visit our home page, where you also will find information on our adoption process and fees. FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 10:19 pm

Story
Meet Tommie: Tommie is about a 4 year old (as of November 2024) Black Mouth Cur mix (best guess) that weighs about 45 pounds. Tommie was found on the side of the highway picking at a chicken bone. The rescuer (now her foster) pulled over, shook a bag of beggin strips and right in the car she went!  Tommie is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Tommie is a very sweet and loyal dog. She doesn’t bark and does so well with other dogs and kids! Tommie is not housebroken but she does well in her crate so we don’t think it would take long for her to figure out the process. We would love for Tommie to have a home with a fenced in yard for her to run and play freely. Tommie is up to date on her shots and spayed. If you are interested in adding this sweet girl into your life, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. ##2225730##

Story
PA Kennel License #5254Wags Rescue & ReferralSouthampton Pa 18966 Available 4/7/2024 Originated fromAllmons All About Animals DL# 17277Blackshear GA 31516 10/25/24 Since time of last update, Gabby has progressed tremendously with showing her fondness for her foster family and being excited for each day. She loves to play with any toy, and enjoys relaxing by chewing on a bone on the couch. She sleeps at night on the couch, and generally spends more time in and around the house than in her crate. Her favorite person is now who she was initially most scared of - her foster dad. She gets along well with dogs, cats, and kids of all ages, and is very sweet. Due to her round middle, she is lovingly called a "sweet potato". She is still shy and reserved when meeting strangers, but if you sit down and show her you mean no harm, she will warm up quickly and come over to sniff and say hi. Gabby is still leery of being on leash, but if you have a fenced in yard, this shouldn't be a problem. Gabby would do best in a home with other dogs who enjoy playing. Her forever family will need to be patient with her as she gets used to a new environment, however, your patience will be rewarded with a loving, playful dog who will be a loyal friend for years to come. 5/23/24 Gabby has made amazing strides during the month in her foster home. She has made it to the first floor and is getting more comfortable with her foster Dad (although she is just now slowly warming up to him with tail wags and kisses). Gabby loves her foster Mom best, and enjoys pets, belly rubs, and hugs. She has two times when she has extra energy for zoomies with the resident dog - after breakfast and before bedtime. She prefers to hang out in her crate, and is not a couch-loving lap dog. She does sleep in her crate at night and stays peacefully in her crate when her foster family goes to work and school. She is a sweetie, and will give you her paw to hold and will tell you she loves you by "petting" your arm and giving kisses. She gets very excited about meals, breakfast especially, and will do 360 spins and hop all over to celebrate. She is still very apprehensive of loud noises and sudden movement, so this will be something to be mindful of. Gabby would do best in a home with an easy-going, friendly dog to play and run around with. She loves the resident cat and wants to be friends with her, even if the cat doesn't feel the same way. In terms of her ideal people - a house with a single woman or mostly female household is in her best interest due to her fear of men. Otherwise, the men in the house will have to be patient and understanding of her fear and give her space and time to understand they're her friend. If you need a friend in your life who you can adore - and who will adore you back - Gabby's your girl! Gabby is a 2 year old Brindle beauty of a mutt that originally came from Georgia. She's short and squat and sweet as can be. Gabby is taking time to adjust to her new surroundings and is very hesitant of her new digs. She's currently decided that her foster parents' bedroom on the 2nd floor is a good place to chill, and is just beginning to get comfortable hanging out on the 1st floor. Her foster family is going to be working diligently on helping her get adjusted to home life. She is fearful of men and as a result is very cautious around them. Whoever decides to make Gabby their forever friend will need to be patient and dedicated in continuing her training. She will reward your efforts with her attention and lots of sniffs. There's no dog quite like our gorgeous Gabby! If you're interested in meeting Gabby, please fill out an application with Wags today. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ALMA-Boy was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. He along with his7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. Alma-Boy is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 21 November 2022 and at the time of transport weighed around 35 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. Alma is such a gentle and sweet boy, he is a little wary at first, but having been through all he has leaving his rescue in Oman and traveling to the US is a huge change. After just a few days, he has settled in great, he gets excited when I go over to the kennels, will now take treats, very gently, shares a kennel with two other dogs and does great. One of his kennel mates, CHIP a young cattle dog is really helping to bring him out of his shell, teaching him to play and having him curious in the toys and chews. He sleeps snuggled up with, I feel he gets a lot of comfort with Chips typical cattle dog confidence. ALMA is thin, although being the kind of breed, a sighthound mix, he will not need to gain much more weight, but a few extra pounds would have him at a healthy weight. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Alma-Boy is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $300. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats.
