Story
This is Baby Girl. She was saved by a caring person who didn’t want to see her shot (yes, they still do that down in the rural south) because she was a stray. She’s a bit on the shy side, but warms up quicker if you have a treat for her. Baby Girl gets along fine with other dogs and also gets along with kids as young as a toddler. We don’t know what she thinks about cats. She’s a wonderful girl that would make a wonderful addition to a family!! Baby Girl is about 5 months old and 25 pounds. Please help Baby Girl find the loving home she deserves. Update: Baby Girl tested positive for Lyme's and already completed her course of treatment. She is doing and feeling great. Baby Girl is available to be adopted. ***You must provide a vet reference for a current or past pet you have/had.*** We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. ALMA-Boy was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. He along with his7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. Alma-Boy is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 21 November 2022 and at the time of transport weighed around 35 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. Alma is such a gentle and sweet boy, he is a little wary at first, but having been through all he has leaving his rescue in Oman and traveling to the US is a huge change. After just a few days, he has settled in great, he gets excited when I go over to the kennels, will now take treats, very gently, shares a kennel with two other dogs and does great. One of his kennel mates, CHIP a young cattle dog is really helping to bring him out of his shell, teaching him to play and having him curious in the toys and chews. He sleeps snuggled up with, I feel he gets a lot of comfort with Chips typical cattle dog confidence. ALMA is thin, although being the kind of breed, a sighthound mix, he will not need to gain much more weight, but a few extra pounds would have him at a healthy weight. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Alma-Boy is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $300. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. Story
Gracie is a sweet girl, is fiercely devoted to her owner. Loves attention and affection and loves to be a lapdog. She was a rescue from the southeast. My daughter adopted her as a puppy, and she had a nice yard to run around. Unfortunately my daughter had a child with disabilities, then got divorced, and couldn't keep her. So I took her. I already had seven dogs when she came to my home. Two of my other female's do not like her, and they pick on her. I have to alternate crating Gracie to protect her, and it is just not fair to any of them. We want Gracie to have good life, with a loving caring family, we want the best for her. She would do best in a family where she is the only dog. She's a cutie and a people pleaser!

Story
Meet Pong - a charismatic 10-month-old pup who weighs 32 lbs. He is a happy, playful, slightly sassy boy searching for a family to love! While he may need a sprinkle of confidence and a dash of training, Pong promises to bring heaps of joy to any household. Pong is already house-trained and crate-trained. Though Pong prefers a gentle approach and patience with new people he has not met before, he has become best buds with his foster family including his furry siblings. Pong's found a cozy spot in his foster mom's heart, even becoming her trusty work-from-home sidekick. A few of his favorite things include food, treats, and toys; the finer things in life! He is very treat-motivated and especially loves toys that are stuffed with goodies! He knows the command "sit" and is pretty good with “paw”. He loves walks, especially if he can tag-team with his foster pup sibling for a stroll, or for an endless game of chase around the house and yard with her. Throw some treats or toys his way to occupy him, and he'll happily chill in his crate. If you're looking for a spunky companion, then apply to adopt PONG LONESTAR at EHRdogs.org.November 6, 2024, 12:45 pm
