Story
MEET ROMEO, a handsome, loyal, protective Black Mouth Cur. Romeo is a handsome 6-year-old male, and he weighs about 74 lbs. (His shelter paperwork says shepherd-boxer mix). Romeo is a gorgeous, handsome dog who loves to walk, hike and be with his person or people. He would be a wonderful companion for someone who loves to hike! He's a great guard dog and can be protective with people he does not know, so would do best in a non-congested area where neighbors aren't a concern. Romeo also has a prey drive, so needs a strong owner. He has done great with other dogs in a home setting. He's incredibly smart, affectionate, and will attach to his person or people. His bond is very strong. He is not a big fan of kids. Romeo is easy to groom, is playful, and loves a good belly rub! He will benefit from walks, hikes, and exercise, and people who understand his breed. Please email for an application.

Story
Gigi is sweet and gentle with a quiet approach to life. I have not one time seen her have a sense of urgency to her, for a treat, on-leash, or to jump-up from a nap. She is slow and steady and moves in a way that would be best described as thoughtful. Take a look at gentleness in action then come back to read more! https://youtu.be/X1QT6Rkxk5A Estimated to be 7 years young, she is a 55 lb Black Mouth Cur/Shepherd mix. We anticipate she has about 5 lbs to gain still so topping off around 60 lbs. Of course, with rescue, breed and birthday are details we cannot know or guarantee. She’s currently more of a couch companion than a hiking buddy, but as she settles in, her playful side is starting to show. I got such a kick out of watching her explore a bunch of dog toys, you could see she was excited about them but was also shy about it, taking a toy and turning away to chew on it or boop it for the squeak. With another dog in the room interested in the toys, she easily made room for her to feel comfortable and had no problem sharing. Thanks to her low energy, quiet nature, and polite leash manners, an apartment could suit her well but she’d also love a quiet home with a yard where she could occasionally chase a passing butterfly- something that did recently happen on a walk. Short version- Gigi is great on leash but a big butterfly going by was so intriguing she got a little extra pep in her step and surprised our Director of Behavior while on an outing together. The telling of the story is comically cute! Gigi is a great car-rider with anyone who has taken her out sharing just how quiet and respectful she is. During a recent car-ride she sat shotgun while her driver enjoyed lunch on-the-go and Gigi did not once push toward helping herself to any. She can be a little shy at first, sometimes retreating if approached too quickly- she is happiest when people let her make the first move, which always ends in sweet tail wags and soft eye contact once she’s decided you’re safe. When she was introduced to new dogs she was polite, walking calmly by other dogs and greeting nicely. Once off leash she was comfortable in their presence but is more companion than playmate, preferring to carve out her own space or check in with a person, when the dogs got a little rowdy. Gigi would do best in a home with a low-energy, respectful male dog or as the one-and-only. She’s a fan of cats but not in the way that makes her a good fit to live with them. When she met out house cat she was interested in meeting him and then as he got more playful she went to match that energy with a playful lunge not welcome by cats. It is easy to see she would attempt to play with a cat and/or overwhelm them with her eager interest, so a feline-free home is a must. Gigi’s looking for someone who will appreciate her slow and steady approach to life and be in full support, by her side for it, one quiet moment at a time. Story
🌼 Meet Sadie Sue — your gentle little sunshine bug 🌼 Sadie Sue is a six-month-old squishy-eared cuddle muffin who looks like she was handcrafted out of velvet and kindness. She’s got the floppiest ears that are absolutely one size too big for her head, the softest warm eyes, and a tiny white speckled triangle on her nose that makes her look like she dipped her snout in powdered sugar. She is so adorable it should count as a superpower. Watch Sadie's video here! https://youtu.be/IhdTS5lZZTI?si=E6RZPqAREowkk0CP Sadie is a sweet, gentle, thoughtful little soul who LOVES other dogs. Her best friend ever is a lovely girl named Honey — the calm, goofy, polite type — and watching them together was instant serotonin. Honey invited her to play. Sadie hopped up on the couch with her, and they sat side-by-side like old friends at brunch. She made a whole group of dog friends — Leroy, Honey, and Charlie — all confident, respectful pups who invited her into their little circle. Sadie Sue really finds her courage around calm, self-assured dogs, and a playful but respectful dog buddy would help her blossom beautifully. She also did amazing with the kitty friend she met — Biggie! Biggie gave her a sniff, she sniffed him back, and then Sadie Sue calmly wandered away like, “Nice to meet you, sir.” They even free-roamed together with the leash dropped, exploring the same corners of the room in the sweetest, chill way. She was polite, curious, and respectful — so a kitty sleepover is absolutely recommended to make sure Biggie’s cousins approve too. She was lovely with kids as well — calm, gentle, and totally appropriate. She let them sit next to her on the couch and accepted affection sweetly. We’d recommend older or mature kiddos (around 8+) who can understand giving her space at first and moving slowly. Now for what makes Sadie Sue extra special: she’s a slow-bloom kind of girl, the type who warms up in layers. Once she trusts you, she’s soft, loyal, and absolutely precious, but she’ll need a little extra time and patience to get comfortable in her new world. She’s brand-new to leash pressure and still figuring out how to be brave on walks, so she will do best in a home with a yard rather than an apartment — somewhere quiet, safe, and roomy where she can learn at her own pace. A generous decompression period will help her settle in and start showing her true goofy, gentle self. Sadie Sue takes treats like a delicate little flower, loves other respectful animals, and has all the makings of a deeply loving, heart-warming companion. If you’re the kind of family who celebrates the soft, sweet victories — a tail wag, a gentle lean, a quiet moment of trust — Sadie Sue will be the most rewarding, unforgettable girl you’ve ever loved. Story
Cleo (short for Cleopatra) is a 7 year old black mouth cur mix. She is a very affectionate dog who loves to play and likes to stay close by but doesn't have to be glued to you. I adopted her from a shelter in Washington in 2019 when she was a 1 year old and she has been a wonderful dog ever since. She loves to run around the house, walk alongside of you at the off leash dog park, play with toys, she can be sassy/ stubborn but she is very playful and loving. She and you will have a great time playing at the park or back yard. She has lived with various other dogs, a cat, and even a 5 year old all without incident. She's very friendly with other dogs and loves going to the dog park. She has gone through training in Washington and knows how to sit, stay, lay down, wait at the door before going out, and leave it when she sees a squirrel. She would be great in any loving home.
