Story
Hey there, I'm Penelope! I'm a fun-loving girl with a happy attitude. I do great on a leash- I don't even pull! I'm potty-trained and do good in my kennel overnight as long as I have toys to play with! I seem to do good with other dogs but the shelter reccomends a quick introduction before sending me home. I'd love to find my person or family that I can call my own.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2155017##

Story
Bobby Redford is as handsome as his namesake. He's a mild-mannered, 50-pound, neutered mixed breed with a reddish brown coat, large soulful eyes, and ears that are ready for takeoff! Don't let his photos (or his big ears) fool you; this golden boy is only 23 inches tall from his shoulder to his toes. Bobby is a sweetheart and falls deeply in love with his people. He is good with both people and dogs, and he plays well in large groups. He currently resides with three foster sisters and a foster brother, and he plays with them all day long. Bobby loves to snuggle on the couch and "hug" people with his head. He can entertain himself by watching the world outside the front window or napping in the warmth of a sunbeam. He has a loving nature, and this well-mannered dog would be the perfect addition for anybody looking for a special guy! To learn more about Bobby Redford, fill out an adoption application at istodaymydayrescue.org. Bobby is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. His adoption fee is $325.

WE ARE A TX BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Pacaya - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! I am an athletic little lady from Central America, named for the volcano where I was found. I love to run around having a grand ole time and would make a great companion for an active individual or family that loves to hike or as a jogging pawtner!! Are you training for a 5K and need a running companion? I am your gal!! Are you and your family out hiking and exploring on the weekends? Again, you need to look no further for canine companionship! But, wait, there's more!! I also enjoy sitting on the couch and watching TV with my Hoomans :) Nothing better than a belly rub and an ear scratch after a fun day full of activities! :) I am not overly hyper, anxious, or high strung, I just enjoy the outdoors but I also love my down time with my family!! Sleeping on my doggie bed under the fan sure beats the volcanic rock of my youth! Just a little about my youth; I was born on the side of the Pacaya volcano in Guatemala. One day, a lady from Hay Dude Rescue came to hike the volcano with her family. I introduced myself by doing my "good dog" tricks; sit, shake hands, and don't jump up!! Through lots of red tape (including quarantine) we found ourselves at the Houston airport!! God Bless America!! I am so grateful to be here and for the love, food , and care that I receive...and it shows on my face and my appreciative attitude. At 2 years old and 35ish svelte pounds, I am in the prime of my l life and am seeking my permanent Hooman family. I get along great with all people and dogs and I'm already house trained! I am joy filled at every aspect of life and communicate that joy through my loving nature and accommodating personality. My clear, bright eyes sparkle with intelligence and understanding. I understand a lot of human speak and pay attention to my people and surroundings. If you are looking for an intelligent, fun loving and active companion, I am that gal!!

Story
Meet Runner! This sweet girl got her name from following her finder home on a run! She probably knew she’d found someone who would help her. She’s a little nervous, but it’s only her first day at the rescue. Her finder had her for a month and fully house trained her, and she knows her manners. Runner is about 2 years old and weighs 42 pounds. She looks like a Black Mouth Cur mix, but she has a fluffy tail and some interesting coloring on her legs. She walks well on a leash, and is learning that the world is a fun place to explore when you have a safe, warm home and regular food every day! She’s good with other dogs and people, and would love to keep building her confidence. We’ll update as we learn more about her!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Meet May! She's mastered all basic obedience training thanks to classes with Swift K9 Training. She LOVES people and kids, but would do best in a home with children over 8. She does not mind cats at all and completely ignores them. She loves her crate--it's her safe space. She is great on leash and loves walks. May is about 4.5 years old and weighs 55 pounds. She would do best in a home as an only dog, and needs a quiet, calm environment willing to take things slow to help her adjust to home life. She has a lot of love to give to someone who can give her a chance. Her adoption fee is fully sponsored! She just needs the perfect home.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Miss Paisley Parker! ALL BREEDS ARE A GUESS When you say hi you must speak with a British accent and know that she expects an ice tax at any chance there is. She knows her name, knows sit, knows paw and "potty." Paisley will sit SO pretty and patiently waiting for her praise/pet/treat. She is very treat motivated. Paisley is working on her leash walking. She is getting the hang of it and lets everyone know how well she is doing. This tiny tyke is kind of like a toddler that just learned to walk. She is not interested in being held, she wants down and she wants to play. She wants to meet everyone that comes her way or out of her way. She is Ms Social butterfly! Toys, stuffies, Kong's, safe chews are all her favorite things in her pass time of entertaining herself while mom/dad take a break. We suggest a dog friend for her. She seems to do really well when there is another dog around. She currently lives with one big dog. one small dog, 2 kids and 2 parents. She is an active little girl, so, a family that will help her thrive and be involved with her would be best.   HHPR.rescuegroups.org for the required adoption application. $300 adoption feeVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 24, 2024, 11:19 am

Story
Meet Marley, a resilient and loving boy who embodies the spirit of survival! His story speaks to his strength; he was found in the rural areas of Arkansas, having endured a traumatic incident where he was shot in neck with the bullet existing his muzzle. Injured and in pain, Marley found the courage to approach people for help. After having surgery, he shows no lasting problems besides a cute snore when he sleeps. Sadly, he also has scars from being hit with shotgun pellets, so it’s understandable he’s terrified by gunshots. Marley is around two years old, weighs 50lb and probably is a black mouth cur and hound mix. He’s a smart boy with lots of character. His head tilts and brow wrinkles when’s he’s trying to understand something. Once you gain his trust, he becomes your best friend and the perfect snuggle buddy. He's a sensitive soul who will thrive in a quieter home. He does require a fenced-in yard and would love a playful dog, his size or larger since he loves nothing more than a good game of chase and a wrestle. Marley knows how to sit and shake and actively learning more tricks in his foster home. He’s crate and house trained. He would be fine in a home with older, calm children with dog experienced. He does need a home without cats or small dogs. If you are looking for a loyal snuggle buddy, who will brighten your life, Marley might be the perfect match. Adoption donation required. This covers altering, DAP series vaccinations to date of adoption, Bordetella Vaccination, Rabies vaccination if over four months, Microchip, Deworming, heartworm test (if over 8 months), monthly flea/heartworm prevention to date, grooming, full veterinary examination, and temperament evaluation. All SOAR dogs go through a ten-day quarantine period to ensure they are healthy, before being adopted. We do not operate on a first come first serve basis, but screen applicants in order to find the best fit for our adoptable dogs.
