Meet May! She's mastered all basic obedience training thanks to classes with Swift K9 Training. She LOVES people and kids, but would do best in a home with children over 8. She does not mind cats at all and completely ignores them. She loves her crate--it's her safe space. She is great on leash and loves walks. May is about 4.5 years old and weighs 55 pounds. She would do best in a home as an only dog, and needs a quiet, calm environment willing to take things slow to help her adjust to home life. She has a lot of love to give to someone who can give her a chance.Her adoption fee is fully sponsored! She just needs the perfect home.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Hi everypawdy, I'm Ruffus and I can't wait to meet you! You wanna hear all the cool things about me?? Well too bad - I'm going to tell you anyways! I am SO polite - I'm working on my commands and am so smart. I never chew anything up, and can be trusted to hang out in a room by myself. I love attention and giving all the love I can muster, I'm a real lovebug! I should do wonderful with kiddos, but have not been around other dogs yet - knowing myself, I'd probably do just fine with them. And last but not least, I'm looking for my forever family! Could it be you? $135.00 Fee includes initial vaccines, worming, microchip with registration, and free vet health exam. This pet has been fed Country Vet Naturals, donated to us by Country Vet. Ruffus's fee has now been paid by Sylvia Tuttle in memory of Ricky Ricardo his fee is now waived. Hey there, I'm Penelope! I'm a fun-loving girl with a happy attitude. I do great on a leash- I don't even pull! I'm potty-trained and do good in my kennel overnight as long as I have toys to play with! I seem to do good with other dogs but the shelter reccomends a quick introduction before sending me home. I'd love to find my person or family that I can call my own.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2155017##

Meet Runner! This sweet girl got her name from following her finder home on a run! She probably knew she’d found someone who would help her. She’s a little nervous, but it’s only her first day at the rescue. Her finder had her for a month and fully house trained her, and she knows her manners. Runner is about 2 years old and weighs 42 pounds. She looks like a Black Mouth Cur mix, but she has a fluffy tail and some interesting coloring on her legs. She walks well on a leash, and is learning that the world is a fun place to explore when you have a safe, warm home and regular food every day! She’s good with other dogs and people, and would love to keep building her confidence.
