Story
Hi there! I’m Sandy, but my foster family calls me Maisie or sometimes Maisie Daisy.
They say I’m probably a Black Mouth Cur mix. Maybe some Staffie and probably some Great Pyrenees since I have some pretty cute extra dew claws.
I’m currently about 55 lbs, but since I’m only about a year old I might have a bit more growing to do. I’m a little embarrassed to say this, but everyone who sees me on our walks or at the dog park thinks I’m beautiful. I guess I have amazing eyes, a gorgeous coat and I’m pretty sleek. Oh and a natural smile.
I came up from Texas a couple of months ago to a completely different life than what I was used to. I had puppies when I was still just a puppy myself so I never really got to live out my full puppy life, especially since I suffered from Heart Worm. Not sure what that is, but I had to take a lot of medicine and I got really skinny. My foster mom says I handled the treatment like a champ!
I’ve never lived in a house before so I’ve taken some time to adjust. I know I’m not supposed to potty in the house but sometimes I think I need to mark my territory since I’m not used to having anything of my own. I’m learning, though, and getting better every day.
I am very shy meeting new people and still guarded around everyone but my foster mom. If you give me some time, some unconditional love and maybe some treats, I promise you that I’m the most loyal, loving and devoted friend you’ll ever have. Once I feel safe, I can figure out new words pretty quickly. I know “sit” “down” “come” and “touch”
I currently live with my foster family (all big people) my foster brother (a SH fail). He is super great and mostly patient. And my foster cat. I think. I barely even notice her.
My perfect day would be breakfast, if course. A little nap, a good walk and some playtime. Maybe another nap and then tons of people attention. I would thrive in a house with a normal routine, another dog who had as much stamina and energy as me, a fenced in yard or a nearby dog park where I could run. I’m super fast. My foster mom thinks there is greyhound in there somewhere.
I mostly need a family who is really willing to be patient with me so that I can finally feel at home. I haven’t had an easy life, but I’m ready to finally find a place to live and be loved.
