Story
Who remembers the cute little boy on the Andy Griffith show? What was his name? Oh right, OPIE. Well, OPIE is my name also. I may not be the redhead that Ronny Howard was back then, but I definitely have some ginger in my fur. Unfortunately, I did not have a Mayberry childhood like OPIE Taylor. But my foster mom has promised me that Happy Days are ahead. I wasn’t born in a small, sleepy town in North Carolina, but in a rural community in Southern Indiana. It is very clear that I didn’t have an Aunt Bee cooking for me. I was nothing but a bag of bones when I was found as a stray young ‘un around the age of 4 months. If Sheriff Taylor knew who I belonged to, he would have slapped my owners with an animal cruelty charge. It was touch and go for a while if I would pull through, but I had a great vet and wonderful people to care for me. Fast forward eighteen months. I am now a happy, healthy and inquisitive lad. The Humane Society in Indiana has been trying to help me find the perfect furever home for months. When the pickings were slim, Rover Rescue stepped in. My foster mom says that these families don’t know what they are missing. She thinks I am a mighty fine Black Mouth Cur / Retriever Mix. I am a great size, weighing in at a healthy 56 pounds. We think my two year old birthday is sometime in January. The wrinkles on my forehead make me look very concerned. However, I was told not to worry because I have the sweetest disposition. I am just a lovebug. I crave attention and will give affection back freely. I don’t believe in personal space. The closer I can be to my people the better. I will melt your heart with my adoring eyes. Some men have caused me to feel intimidated so I may need a little time to warm up. I do want to be a people and dog pleaser. Cats, not so much, as a kitty free home is probably best for me. I have done very well with the resident dogs in my foster home. I love to play, run around the fenced backyard and wrestle with them. I do not need to be the “top dog” but will butt in if loving is being given to another. Sharing a home with confident dogs has helped boost my self-esteem and teach me how to be a respectful house member. I caught on to house training very quickly with their help. I take treats very gently and will sit and shake when asked… most of the time. I ride calmly in the car and enjoy going on walks. An Easy Walk Harness has proven to help with my pulling. When I am home alone and at bedtime, I am crated. I crate very easily with a good snack. I may complain for a minute, but will then settle down until it is time to be released. If you are looking for sweet and loyal boy to take fishing and maybe get into some mischief with, please consider me, OPIE. My foster mom, Darla, can tell you more about me if you call her at 630/406-9405. My adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Story
This boy was a rescue from Georgia. He is very playful boy that is full of energy!! He is a go go go sort of boy that will need an active family to keep up with him. He is with a group of pups his size and age so he does very well. He is friendly, knows his name and we think was house trained at some point. He does okay on a leash and knows how to sit for treats. He is just a friendly, happy and playful pup looking for a new forever home. Milo is now in Tennessee and can be transported to you through Rescue Riders.

Story
Hi, I'm Everest and I am so glad you are taking a look at me. I am a sweet boy who takes a bit of time to warm up to new people. I'm down for an adventure or a cuddle on the couch. While I may be missing an eye, I am still full of love and energy! I would love a home where I can become confident and learn! One thing about me is that I am a foodie!!! Chicken, cheese, freeze-dried, and more! I do not discriminate. Other things I like: Giving kisses Playing Doggy friends Napping As a puppy, I am starting to learn my basic manners like sit, down, and touch. I'm no expert yet, but I keep going! I would love to keep learning with you! If it sounds like we would be a good match, I would love to meet you! Everest is an all-star dog, and his adoption appointment includes a discussion with the training team, as well as a few enrichment goodies to help get you both off to a good start. To learn more about Everest or to schedule an appointment to meet him, please email info@ahconnects.org (including your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to assist you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians. Ask fosters@ahconnects.org about fostering Everest, while he waits for his forever home!

Story
FAST FACTS:*1 Year Old - 23 Pounds (Gaining Weight)*Playful, Sweet, Loves Snuggling*Calm, Patient Humans*Dog Friendly*Potty Trained*Mostly Crate Trained*Fenced Yard Required*Training RequiredBIO:Once upon a time, there was a shy princess named Kenzy who dreamed about a cozy home with loving people who would help her sparkle and thrive. It's me: I'm Kenzy! I started my young life as stray in Texas trying to survive on my own, so I am very shy during new experiences - but I am trying to be brave and come out of my shell! My foster momma says she is so proud of the progress I have already made. It will take me some time to settle in and feel safe, so my ideal adopters will be patient and comforting. But you will be richly rewarded once I am comfortable enough to let my amazing personality out: I am playful and silly and love snuggling with my family when I am tired out from all our fun! I enjoy playing with toys (especially squeaky ones!), romping around with other dogs, and rolling over for belly rubs. It would be a big bonus to have a doggie friend in my forever home who can show me the ropes of my new life, but for now I think I would do best in a family that doesn't have young children until I gain more confidence. I have a lot to learn, but am eager to please and very treat motivated (I loooove food!), so training should be a fun and enriching experience for us both. My adopters will be required to sign me up for training classes - as all adopters of young dogs like me are required to do - and I think the socialization at class will really help me blossom. I am potty trained and mostly crate trained (I don't love going in it, but I settle down after a couple minutes), but am still working on my leash-walking skills and remembering that I should only chew my toys. I hope you can see past my initially shy first impression to see the beautiful gem I am meant to be! Once I know you, I love with my whole heart and I cannot wait to share that love with you!If you'd like to adopt this dog, please get started by filling out a complete application (incomplete submissions cannot be sent.) Please note that while we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care as possible, our bios are written from current observations. Though we do our best to share as much information as possible about each dog we care for, we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history, and information pertaining to breed and age are often educated guesses.
