Story
To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE   Age: 9 months (as of 10/11/24) Weight: 37 pounds (as of 9/17/24) Location: RI Dasha is available for adoption to Massachusetts residents, as well as those in the other New England states. This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Dasha is a sweet and affectionate girl who loves spending time with her people. She is the ultimate cuddle bug! She is slowly gaining life experiences and was unfortunately bounced around without a predictable routine before coming to Rhode Island. She is now in a stable foster home and thriving.  She would do best in a home without little kids. She likes meeting other dogs, both big and small. She lived with a cat in her Southern foster home, but we have not seen her with cats since being in Rhode Island.   Dasha would love a fenced yard where she can play and run and think she would love having another dog sibling. She is housetrained and sleeps in her crate at night but really doesn't love her crate during the day. She is very food motivated and loves working with the trainer to learn new skills and build her confidence.  We strongly encourage basic obedience training for all our dogs, as it not only helps your dog blossom into a well-balanced canine citizen with good manners, but it also helps to form a lasting bond between your dog and the humans in your family.  Dasha is an active and happy girl who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family! Medical Note:  This dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. The dog has responded well to this treatment and is ready for adoption, though may still have some bald patches and/or thin fur in places.  Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies.  Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition.  Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:  Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor. November 3, 2024, 9:29 pm

With proper introductions and training, she can be a great pal for other pups, especially those who can match her energy. As for kids 👦 , Reagan shines around older children who can keep up with her playful spirit. She's all gentle nuzzles and playful pounces, always up for a game of fetch or a cuddle 🥰 on the couch. Story
Joe is a stunning 8 year old black mouth cur mix that is ready to find his forever family❤️ Sweet Joe has a strong desire to be near his people, always. He’s a cuddle bug and loves being where his family is! He is good at being a companion dog, he plays well with puppies & is a protector of his people! He will bark when strangers come to the door but once he knows they’re cool, he will be their new best friend🐾 This handsome boy can be an adventure pup or a couch potato. He loves to go for hikes and runs, but he is also happy cuddling up on a couch with his humans! He likes other dogs, but prefers pup friends with laid-back personalities so he can be the “big dog in the house,” or he would be okay as an only dog! 🐶 Joe has a strong case of FOMO, so he always wants to know what you are doing and where you are going. He likes to follow his people around the house and get into the things they are getting into. He really just wants to be near his humans & doing whatever they’re doing.❤️ Joe needs an adult-only household, or one with older children. Poor buddy is scared of little kids and deserves a home where he doesn’t have to be separated from little ones, and can roam his home as he pleases. He is kennel trained, but doesn’t need to be kept in one because he isn’t destructive & he is house trained! Joe is a good boy that deserves a soft place to land after his family dynamic has changed. If you have an older, established household, please consider adding Joe to your family!🥰 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Meet Waylon🏆 Waylon is an adorable 3 month old Black Mouth Cur/Carolina Dog mix. His mom is a petite girl weighing just 35 pounds so we expect Waylon to be on the smaller side of a medium pup when grown. 🐕 This cutie is a very happy puppy, he loves to play with his brother and any other dogs in his foster home who will play with him. Waylon thinks humans are pretty cool too and he is a great snuggle buddy 🧸 Waylon is crate trained and doing well with house training. He really enjoys food and treats and is a smart boy who picks up on things quickly and loves to make his person happy. 😊 Waylon would love a family with children and maybe another dog companion to play with. He would like a fenced yard to play with all of his new fun toys 🎾 If Waylon sounds perfect for your family, please submit the adoption application. He can’t wait to meet his new forever family and get started on his amazing future adventures 🎉
