We found this sweet boy roaming our neighborhood and took him in. Hes very well behaved and is great with kids of all ages! Hes great with other dogs too, just a little hyper. He loves to cuddle and snuggle on the couch annd he is kennel trained ant night. We’re still working on potty training but he’s doing great! Our current dog is not liking him at all and is causing stress on her. All the rescues and shelters are full and I would really like to find him a home! Adoption fee is negotiable…I would rather find him a good home than take someone’s money.

jack (the neutered black and brown male) is 6 and maggie (the tan and black spayed female) is 9. i am fostering jack and maggie after they came into where i work (wedington animal hospital) to be euthanized. their original owner passed away they were passed around between family members. the person that surrendered them told us the reason they wanted to euthanize them was because they didn’t want them anymore. they are not aggressive towards other dogs, cats, or people. they may be older but still have a good quality of life too. They LOVE to play fetch and tug of war. They are both super sweet and have sweet little quirks that are unique to them. i just want them to find a forever and be happy senior dogs!

Cantaloupe's DOB is 07/19/2021 and she's a red Boxer. Cantaloupe came into the Haven of the Ozarks with another dog by the name of Melon they are two very shy, reserved pups that were found roaming a neighborhood. We later found out that their owner had passed away and that's why they were out roaming, probably in search of food and water. But lucky for them they picked the perfect neighborhood to seek out their basic needs because once everyone noticed them, they all came together and began putting out food, water and trying to gain their trust. This process took about two months because these two caught on to what people were trying to do and would not go into traps, they had set for them so they could get them to us so we could help these sweet pups try and understand that not all people are bad and that we just wanted to help. We at the Haven of the Ozarks believe that with a lot of time, basic training and patience that these two sweeties can grow to trust someone and be able to eventually live the happy healthy life's they deserve. We think that it would need to be someone that is willing to come out for a few days and spend time with them in their kennel and shower them with treats and love to gain trust before they went home just to make the transition from our shelter to a home easier on them. We have brought both into the office to hang out with us before, and Cantaloupe is definitely the one who has a harder time opening up. Her estimated DOB is 7/19/21. All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open form 9am-4pm, seven days a week. Virgil is a very handsome and gentle boy who was dumped with dog friend, Vienna. He loves her, but she's found her new home. We would love to see Virgil find a place to go, too! He's a bit timid and needs a patient adopter who will help him build his confidence. Virgil also needs some help with his leash manners because he's currently scared about walking on one (but doing better). Virgil has been fine with both dogs and cats while at the sanctuary. He will make a wonderful addition to a family who will give him time to know he's safe and loved! All our pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped.
