Story
https://foha.org/pet/oscar/ Hello. I am Oscar. No, I do not have a hot dog named after me. No, I'm not a grouch from Sesame Street (although I do have my moments), and I'm not the messy Oscar from the Odd Couple. I am Oscar the hound. A redbone coonhound to be precise. Since I am a hound, my nose leads the way on long walks. I am great with other dogs. I especially love to relax outdoors in the sun and I am house trained. I also know basic commands and take treats well. I love car rides! While I am primarily good-natured, I can be protective of food, toys, and objects that I think are mine. I would do best in a home with no children and a strong experienced owner. A few other things about me. I do the "Oscar dance to make a pitch for some yummy treats. Also, I always, always have a smile on my face. I love low-key living and know a great home is out there for me. Come and visit to see my Oscar dance, and let's get to know each other! If you have the experience and are looking for a dog to hang out on the back porch and bath in the sun. I am the Oscar for you.

Story
My Mom was really, really, really big into dog rescue and helping at the shelters. I meant the absolute world to her. She is in heaven now, but had asked this Foster mom to do the huge last request of finding me a new home to live out my senior years. I am a big lovable load, around 80 pounds. I love going in the car and I don’t mind some short walks and I walk very loose leash. I prefer to be with somebody rather than left alone all day while you’re at work, but I do just fine when you have to go out and run errands and are gone for a few hours. I get along fine with other dogs and I used to live with a cat, but I have also been known to chase the neighbor’s cat. I am nine years old, and I have a couple lumpy, bumpy fatty growths. The vet has looked at everything and does not have any worries about it being more than fatty tumors. I sure would love a comfortable home with some good couch time and adventure movies to watch. I am a pretty easy addition, and I know my mom would be forever grateful. If you would like an adoption application, please contact my Foster mom at irondawgs13@gmail.com

Story
Thaddeus is a calm, eventempered young hound with a wonderfully sweet nature. At about a year and a half old and 25 pounds, he’s an ideal size and temperament for many homes. Known as “a perfect angel” at the shelter, Thaddeus lived comfortably in a home, played well with other dogs, and loves to snuggle. He’s easy on leash—even when following a scent—and enjoys calmly exploring new environments before settling in for quiet play and naps. Thaddeus rides great in the car and happily curls up to nap on longer drives. In foster care, he sleeps through the night in a crate by the bed (though he’d happily sleep on the bed if invited). His potty skills and leash manners are improving with routine, and he responds well to gentle guidance. He’s quiet, wellmannered, not dogreactive, and gets along beautifully with the resident beagle. Thaddeus loves treats, affection, and handled bath time like a champ. Overall, Thaddeus is an easy keeper—happy, affectionate, and eager to please. PAW adopts in the MD, VA, and Northern PA region. ##2719530##

Story
Shadow is a funny, sweet coonhound that joined my family at the end of 2020. She was found in the woods of upstate SC with a severely injured back leg, that she’s now missing. Shadow is great with kids! My boys are 8, 10 and 15 now and we’re 3, 5 and 10 when she joined us. She loves kids and all people! Shadow is a lover and just wants to be loved. Shadow is also great with cats and most other dogs that share a similar vibe. She loves to run and play with dogs at the dog park! Shadow is now about 7 1/2, 70 lbs and up to date on all vet visits/shots/flee and heart-worm medicine, Do not let her lack of leg fool you, she is agile and can jump over obstacles in her way. Shadow needs a new home as one of my human kids has become quite ill with something that is likely to last for years. With this sudden change, I am no longer able to give her the care she needs. Shadow deserves to be in a home that’s able to care for her properly. She is such a wonderful dog!

She would do best in a home with no children or older children who will respect her boundaries and no other pets, as she enjoys being the center of your world. While Liberty can get along with some dogs, she is selective about her canine companions and prefers to choose her friends. She’s housebroken, well-behaved, and walks beautifully on a leash. With a medium energy level, Liberty loves her outings but also knows how to unwind and relax when it's time to settle down. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will cherish your company, Liberty might be the perfect fit!Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life.
