Story
Some confuse Savannah for a young doberman but she is a coonhound! Having a rough start, she has had her tail amputated and her wounds are healing. She has gone from being terrified of even having music playing or the tv playing while muted, to a confident and goofy girl. After just 5 minutes of playing with her toys, she is ready to crash on the couch and binge her person’s favorite shows. We are still working on leash walking and not jumping but she is eager to please and it shouldnt take too much for her to be easy to handle. She does well with cats, especially if they dont mind her. If they hiss or bat at her, she will get excited and bark at them. I have one declawed cat that doesnt mind her one bit and they can pass each other with no incidents. My girls are a little more opinionated and she gets excited. Well socialized, enjoying the cool mornings sniffing around the park or trotting along her husky friends. Her foster sister likes her space but Savannah listens to the social cues given, without incident.

Story
Hey all, Ruthie here. I have been trying for such a long time to find my forever home. I really don't understand why I haven't. I think I'm around 3 yrs old so really a perfect age. My foster mom did this picture compare app on the computer and based on my picture, it said I'm some breed called a Entlebucher Mountain Dog! I don't know about that but it was kind of fun to see.  I'm already trained...ooh...let me tell you just how trained I am! I went to a place that had big walls and lots of people to meet and learned all kinds of commands. I think they called it Dick Conner Correctional Center and something called the STAR Inmate Training Program. I got so good that I didn't even need a leash with my trainer person, I just hung out with him all the time. It was so much fun! Even passed my test at the top of the class if I do say so myself! I was kind of sad when I left because I had so many friends there. My foster mom said that I am such a good girl that she doesn't understand why I haven't had tons of people wanting me. She said I am the most loyal, playful, people dog she has ever seen. That is true that I always want to be with my people, always! I love meeting new people and going places. According to my foster mom and the guys at the prison program, I have so many great qualities. The only thing that might be holding me back is that I need to be an only dog but let me explain why. I don't get angry with other dogs. I can go places and be around them. But I learned how to play super hard when I was young, maybe as a survival tool, and it's just too much for other dogs. I'm totally ok being with my people, in fact, I prefer it. I really would make someone a great companion dog. If you know of a person or family who might be my family, please tell them to go to my rescue's website and apply. Please? I want a home of my own....  www.carerescueok.org ##1550792##

Our Moose Man! This sweet and sensitive guy is in search of the perfect home where he can thrive. He prefers to be the sole dog in the household and can be protective of his loved ones. For this reason, he would do best with older children. Moose is both house trained and crate trained, making him an excellent indoor companion. He craves human company and would flourish with an owner who is frequently present. A true hound, he adores walks, relishing every opportunity to sniff around. While he enjoys a good vocal session, he is well-behaved on leash. Affectionate and playful, Moose is quick to reciprocate love. He communicates his needs effectively and is a joy to be around. He has a knack for learning commands, already mastering sit, down, and shake. Treats and affection motivate him to continue learning, and he's currently progressing well with leash training. Moose is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped, ready to find his forever home. If you have room in your heart and home for a smart and loving companion, consider meeting Moose today! Please submit an online application to begin the process.

Story
Hey there, Hound Lovers! Meet Calvin, a TRIPLE-THREAT (pun intended) doggo. You see, because of some horrible person’s cruelty -- he was shot and had to have his shattered leg removed 😔 -- Calvin is now a tripod, Treeing Walker Coonhound, but, oh boy, this does not slow him down much at all! Speaking of cruelty, Calvin has scars on his face, ears, and front legs suggesting that the shooter (or some other jerk in the area in which Calvin was originally found as a stray) was persistently abusive to him. BUT. . . Calvin’s traits that make him a triple threat? How about these?: 1) He is SUPER sweet and affectionate! 2) He crates up perfectly all night long for sleeping. 3) I mean…just look at him. He’s GORGEOUS!!! The deets: Calvin is thought to be about three-years-old, and he’s up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, potty-trained, and sweet-natured, as most TWCs are. Calvin will need anti-inflammatory medication and/or pain meds to help him go through life with three legs, but he does well taking his meds morning and night with pill pockets, and he does not exhibit signs of being in pain with them. Because of the cruelty Calvin endured, he is still a little skittish around people who are fearful of him or “loud” to the point of being scary to him. He will need to be in a childfree and catfree home, preferably with a fenced yard and a fur playmate his size. Calvin has not been aggressive with children, but he can be triggered by fear and then growl at whoever’s nearby. Being firm with him and redirecting him snaps him out of this demeanor, but his foster thinks even an older child may not be able to read his stress in these (rare) moments. If Calvin has two owners, they must both be committed to bonding with him to prevent him becoming “resource guarding” with only one of the two. Calvin has been a perfect gentleman in his foster home, on outings for socialization, and around all visitors to the foster’s house. He’s READY to start his furever journey with a family of his own. Please fill out an adoption form TODAY for this goodest boi!
