Story
Let me introduce Chance, one of the coolest dogs in our rescue! His foster mother has medical issues, and she wants him to find his furever home ASAP! This awesome guy was abandoned in the woods, alone in the middle of nowhere, when he was still a puppy – scared and left to die young. He is extremely sweet. Chance loves toys and playing fetch - playtime is high on his wish list. He is very friendly, never meets a stranger, and loves absolutely everyone he meets. He still has a puppy spirit and needs activity & exercise! He would be great for an active family that hikes or runs, as long as there are cuddles and belly rubs. His leash walking is progressing well. He gets along well with other dogs with proper introduced. He will be happiest as a loving family companion. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We'll transport to a destination near you every weekend, alternating between the Northeast and the Great Lakes.

Story
Scout is a neutered male hound/weimaraner mix (see his DNA results), weighing about 40-45 lbs. He is a sweet, special boy who has had a rough past and really needs an angel to step up and save his life.  His estimated age is 3-4 years old, however he has graying on his muzzle which makes him look older than he is.  He also has scars on his ears and face.  This boy has definitely experienced trauma and he is slow to trust people, but deep down he just wants to love and be loved.  He is misunderstood and has had people let him down too many times. Scout bonds closely to one person and once he trusts you, you will feel the love and adoration every time he looks into your eyes!  He is a lazy couch potato who loves to nap on the couch next to you and will follow you around the house like your shadow.  Once you’ve really earned his love, he will steal your slippers or other little trinkets that smell like you and take them onto the couch to keep close to him.  He won’t chew them, he just wants to keep a piece of you with him always.   Scout has been adopted and returned once due to fearful aggressive behavior towards men and children.  He has been in his current foster home for 11 months now and has not had a single application on him.  He is a good boy, but he requires a very specific type of home to do well, and we have not had any luck finding the right home for him His current foster mom loves him and has worked hard to help him be the best boy he can be, but there is a man in the home and Scout just cannot comfortably coexist with a man.  He (the man) understands that Scout’s aggression towards him comes from a place of fear and he has tried hard to earn Scout’s trust, but the situation is no longer tenable for Scout or his foster family.  Scout will sadly be facing euthanasia very soon if we do not find any other options for him. Scout’s ideal home: A female only home, no men, children, or cats.  Scout does well with other dogs and likes to be near them, he also has bursts of playful enjoy and will happily romp around for a play session! A friendly, confident doggo friend would help him to feel safe and to trust, although he would also do just fine as an only dog.  A quiet, calm home environment is best for Scout.  He is lower energy and is happy to nap on the couch all day, but he does also love walks (he is strong and tends to pull, so he needs someone strong enough to handle him).  He needs a home that will commit to crating him in a separate room when they have visitors over, as he is not good with new people and when Scout is fearful, he relies on aggression to keep him safe and to keep the “scary” thing away.  Scout needs someone to love him for who he is, warts and all, who will set him up for success and advocate for him. Scout is currently being fostered in CT and he is running out of time!  If you think you might be a good fit for Scout, please consider applying to foster or adopt him!   ##1778132##
