Available to the right adopter, who either has experience with scared dogs, or is willing to continue with her training. Dottie is guessed to be a 1-2 yr old Black and Tan Coonhound mix that is currently being fostered with one of our dog trainers that specializes in timid, shy and scared dogs. She is absolutely adorable and her eyes will melt your heart! She is still timid, but her Foster Mom is working on her to help her let her guard down and fully trust you. Her foster mom thinks she would do better in a quiet home with adults or older children to work with her. Another confident dog could be helpful, but not necessary. Her foster mom has an amazing rehabilitation protocol to help these scared dogs and is working with her on potty training, socializing with dogs and humans, leash training, kennel training, doggie door training and if time permits, even car training. She also has an amazing group of volunteers that meet twice a week to help socialize all the scared foster dogs in her care. There are lots of other dogs at her foster mom's house so we know she is dog friendly. Her foster doesn't have any cats but thinks she would be fine with them if introduced slowly and properly. She will need an adopter, who will give her love and patience. Please consider this adorable girl as a part of your family. She deserves all the kindness and will give you a lifetime of affection. The shy dogs become the most loyal dogs, who adore their humans. Her foster mom is located in Fort Collins Colorado and wants to find a patient adopter, who has experience with handling and rehabilitating shy dogs, or who is willing to help him continue gaining confidence by taking one of Jodi's foundation classes in person or via zoom. This class is NOT basic obedience, but instead, is designed for rescue dogs and teaches the adopter how to work to build the dogs confidence and overcome any trauma the dog may have experienced. This training would definitely help the family and this sweet guy adjust to their new life together quicker. She provides a discount on training.
