Story
Say hello to beautiful Opal! This sweet girl is about 9 years old. She’s a rescued puppy mill mama Bichon. Like so very many of these so-called breeder releases (i.e. no longer producing sellable puppies so no longer of any value to the business operators) she is extremely timid and unsure of life outside of a locked box. She does not trust humans - and I don`t blame her one little bit. After many months in her foster home, she has made progress, but that progress is always guarded and often accompanied by a swift return to where she was before the progress (she`s a one step forward, two steps back kind of gal). She watches my every move with curiosity/suspicion, lol. She likes to be near the me and the pack when I`m home but doesn`t necessarily want to cuddle in with us. She`s more of a `I`ll be over here watching you, but you can reach over and pet me if you want,` type of pup. She does get excited when I get home from work and will sometimes do zoomies in the yard with the big boys, but she doesn`t want me bursting her fun bubble by trying to get too close. I have built trust with her to the point where she wants to be by me, wants me to pet her, lets me do anything I need to do with her (besides go for a walk), but she is usually still nervous during it all. Heartwarming are the times when she is truly relaxed and enjoying some love from me - those times are slowly building in frequency. Love and patience are paying off. She must have a fenced-in yard at her new home as a leash isn’t an option for this sweetheart. She is going to need time and lots of patient, unconditional love and support to transition into a new life. Her ideal adopter is someone who is looking to share her/his home with an introvert :)You can also watch for stories, pictures and videos about Opal on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/40103261297/ Ask to meet me today!! Adoption fee: $425 All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations. As required by Wisconsin Act 90, all dogs will have received a veterinarian exam (CVI) within the past 30 days. Our adoption process requires the submission of an application. Applications and Adoption Rules can be found on our website, on the `HOW TO ADOPT` tab at JRsPupsNStuff.org. Upon receipt of the completed application

Story
Hi! My name is Eli Mae, a poodle bichon mixMy foster mom is Linda Peterson Hyde. I am currently crashing at her house in Raymond until I can find my permanent Home. You can contact her for more information 262-909-7883. Enough about her, time to tell you about me. The vet assumes I am 3-5 years old and my teeth look great. Here are a few things I like: my greenie treats at night, the other big and small dogs in the house, a yard to play in, and slowly getting used to being touched and held. It does feel good once I trust you.( I was a puppy mill dog so people make me nervous). Things I’m a bit afraid of: loud noises, doorways, some people, and that horrible leash so a fenced in yard is a must. I am working really hard on the “potty” thing too. I usually just follow what the other dogs in the house do. I am told often l am the sweetest thing with such sad loving eyes. I will make a great companion, you just need to be patient with me. There is an adoption fee of $500 required, but I will be all up to date on shots and spayed too! You can find more info on Tiny Paws Small Dog Rescue site too. If interested in meeting me please contact my foster mom.

Story
Breed: Bichon/ShihTzu mix Gender: female 4 years old Weight: 17 lbs. Hi, my name is Pooch, and I want to be your new best friend! I was rescued from a puppy mill, where I spent my days locked in a cage. Even though my life was tough, I still have a big smile on my face, and my tail wags nonstop. At first, I was a little scared of people, but now I get excited whenever I see my foster mom. I follow her wherever she goes. I love it when she rubs my belly and tells me that I’m a sweet girl. Despite my age, I’m as playful and happy as a puppy. I get along with other dogs, but I’m fine with being the only dog in the house. Children are okay with me, as long as they are gentle and patient. The groomer said I did a great job and called me a very good girl. I'm potty trained and learned how to walk on a leash. I still have to learn how to go up and down stairs. I would love to meet you! Pooch is spayed, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and dewormed. She is a lovely girl that will make a great companion. Her adoption fee is $450. She is currently fostered in Chicago, Illinois. Her foster mom can be reached at bejolese@gmail.com. If you are looking for a new best friend, please complete an adoption application on the Tiny Paws website: https://www.cognitoforms.com/TinyPawsSmallDogRescue1/AdoptionApplication. Thank you.

Story
About Me: Name: Ramona Quimby Breed (or best guess): Bichon (or mix) Approximate Age: 6-7 years Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 14 lb Adoption Fee: $700 for both Ramona and Judy (usually $450 each) Requirements: Patient adopter, fenced yard, another dog  Why In Rescue: Breeder Surrender Profile:  Ramona Quimby came with a number of her friends from a breeder that was going to stop using them for breeding (and hopefully out of breeding completely).  Ramona is shy/timid, but getting more comfortable to people and will come up to get a treat especially through the kennel fence.  She is still nervous about being picked up.  At the shelter she will follow the caretaker to go outside.  She does not walk on a leash yet, so will need a securely fenced yard so she can safely go outside.  Ramona NEEDS another small dog in the home to be comfortable so we are now listing Ramona and Judy as a bonded pair to be adopted together. Please read the information about puppy mill survivors before you apply to adopt Ramona and Judy, as we want the adoption to be a success for her as well as her adopter.  We don't know if she ever lived in a house, so will likely need work with housetraining. ***We have a sponsor willing to pay for half of Ramona and Judy's adoption fee if they are adopted together.  The fee for both dogs will be $350 for the adopter. Ramona came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS November 5, 2024, 8:05 pm

About Me: Name: Captain Casper Breed (or best guess): Bichon or mix Approximate Age: 7 yr Gender:  Male Approximate Weight: 18 lb Adoption Fee:  $450 Requirements: Patient adopter, fenced yard Why In Rescue: puppy mill survivor Profile:  Captain Casper has come a long way from when we first got him.  He appreciates a routine, and we have worked out a system for him where he will accept being picked up and taken outside.  In a home he would likely learn to just run outside as long as there is a secure fence.  He doesn't walk on a leash yet. Here is what his caretakers at the shelter have to say about him:  Casper is a pup in need of an extra special home He’s a puppy mill survivor who has come a long way since arriving at rescue but needs a family that understands he will not be going for walks and does not like being picked up or touched. His favorite thing to do is play with his kangaroo toy and will excitedly show it off to people he trusts! He would do great in a home with a fenced in yard where he can run in and out on his own. Story
** Canine companion required **Meet Rosalina, an 11 lb Shih Tzu mix that spent her life being used for breeding. Because of her background, she`s extremely shy around people and spends her day snuggled up with other dogs in a secluded area rather than join in the bustle of the household. She also takes her cues from the other dogs in her foster home and will need a canine companion in her forever home to show her the ropes. Rosalina will need a family that`s willing to give her extra time and patience to come out of her shell and show her how wonderful life can be as a spoiled pet. She`s not ready to be leashed and her family will need a way to let her do her business outside in a fenced in yard or puppy pen until she gets comfortable enough to be walked. If you`re willing to take a chance on Rosalina and give her the affection and patience she needs, you`ll be rewarded tenfold watching her come out of her shell and find joy and comfort in life. She`s already started opening up in her foster home and will tentatively approach foster mom for pets under the right circumstances!I am still new to rescue, please check back for updates as my foster family gets to know me. Story
Hi, my name is Bibble, I am a super special girl. I was a puppy mill breeder release which means I was used for my babies and had very little contact with the outside world. Jrs was a bit surprised when they realized that I arrived pregnant. I quickly went to a foster home where I did an amazing job taking care of my babies. They are all adopted and now it`s my turn to find my family. I have a special bond with my foster mom, and I tolerate my foster dad but due to my past I struggle with new people. Depending on the situation I tend to either run away or bark to let you know I am uncomfortable. I am looking for a special connection with a patient person that will keep me happy and safe! I am good with dogs and cats; in fact a confident doggy friend might help me out of my shell! You can also watch for stories, pictures and videos about me on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/40103261297/ Ask to meet me today!!Adoption fee: $650All dogs/puppies have been fully vetted including spay/neuter, micro-chipping, worming, heartworm testing and preventative treatment, flea/tick preventative, and all required age appropriate vaccinations.
