He enjoys chew toys and playing with other dogs. He does well in his crate for limited times during the day and he is a good sleeper whether in his human's bed or on his dog bed. He is not fully potty trained so a fenced back yard for outdoor play time would be great. Although he [has] been on a harness and leash, he finds himself getting distracted and darting in different directions. He's a loving boy with a good heart and a kind spirit. He is smart and he's a good eater. He's not picky with his food. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Gertrude or Gerti for short is an adorable, sassy and sweet senior gal. She was surrendered by her owner after personal medical expenses became too much. Gertrude has a lifetime eye drop and allergy care. She is a dream on a walk, with dogs, with people, you name it she's perfect for it. She adores attention but will make her self known before interacting. She is not the best at first meetings and leans towards a more defensive nature if pushed to interact. She needs regular grooming with her allergies and breed coat. She adores all attention so she loves all the grooming. She was a little wiggly for nails but with the work we have put in she is doing wonderfully for dremeling. Her coat has completely grown back and you wouldn't know all the issues she had previously just looking at her. She is realizing that the medications are not actually hurting her and feeling better so she has been doing well with medications she has understand that only good things are coming from people giving her these weird things. She will have a lifelong eye and skin medication. She has a weekly medicated bath. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › FOSTER TO ADOPT HOME NEEDED He goes by many names... McGruff, McGriddle, McGruber, McGiblet, so we just call him McG McGruntles is a 1 year Maltese saved from a puppy mill.  Until coming to the rescue, he never knew that people could be loving.  He was quiet, reserved, and shut down. After spending some time in a foster home, McGiblet has found his voice and is quite the diva!  He does bark quite a bit to get your attention.  It's a loud piercing bark  McGruber puts his little paw up to play with you and give you the tiniest high-five, which is heartbreakingly adorable McGriddle is NOT potty trained-- he will eliminate on pee pads.  He is not leash-trained, and thrashes around like a fish on a line.  He prefers to be carried everywhere like the little prince he knows he is. McGobbler is only 5 lbs, but he thinks he is 100.  He 'guards' his crate and attempts to chase away other larger dogs (who promptly ignore him).  But given this, McGrumpy will not be a good fit in a home where other dogs might react to his posturing.   Finally, McGaga does have special needs.  He has a congenital heart condition (PDA) that is fixable with surgery.  The rescue is raising funds to pay for the surgery in full to be done at NC State.  This will fix his grade 5 heart murmer.  We are looking for someone to foster McGump through his surgery and eventually adopt.  While his current foster mama loves him, he is the sort of little dog that wants to be carried around and absorb all the attention from the human.   Are you interested?  Please submit an application.  Preference will be given to applicants within easy driving distance of NC State Veterinary School Want to help with McGruff's surgery?
