Story
Mongle is a sweet girl who may be a bit shy at first, but she quickly warms up—especially when food is involved! She loves affection and will show her belly when she's comfortable. Personality: She has a gentle demeanor and is easily carried. Although she enjoys saying hello to other dogs, she prefers calmer interactions and can become overwhelmed by overly energetic pups. She gets along well with dogs of all sizes and ages, as well as cats; she spent about 1-2 months in a foster home with cats. Energy Level & Exercise: With a moderate energy level, Mongle enjoys outdoor walks and is calm indoors. While she does pull on the leash due to her curiosity and desire to sniff everything, she overall enjoys her time outdoors. Behavior with Resources: She exhibits some resource guarding behaviors, particularly towards people and other dogs. If you attempt to take something away from her, she may growl or snap. It's important to approach her with patience in these situations. Separation and Crate Training: Mongle does not experience separation anxiety but may develop it if she receives excessive attention from her owner. She will bark if she needs something. In the car, she is calm when in her crate, but she does experience motion sickness, so keeping her in a crate is recommended. Potty Training: She is capable of both indoor and outdoor pottying, but with regular outdoor access, she will prefer to go outside. Mongle is looking for a loving home where she can feel secure and cherished. If you think you can provide the right environment for her, please reach out!

Story
Teddy is an adorable 3 yr old, 13 lb Shih Tzu.    He is an active and athletic Shih Tzu. Teddy will make a great companion for a devoted walker, as weather doesn’t affect his love of a daily brisk walk.   He needs a home where someone is frequently around, as Teddy prefers to be with his person and will happily keep you company wherever you go.   With just a little patience as he adjusts to his new home, this little guy will warm right up. He’s a young, small dog who is quick and will dart for an open door, so his adoptive home needs to be prepared to manage him around outside doorways. Teddy needs to be only dog, since he likes all the attention and all the treats! The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD. The secure fence must be 4ft or higher, with gaps no greater than 2 inches, and attached to the home - meaning you have an inside door that opens into the fenced yard. An invisible fence, enclosed patio, terrace or deck, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing) it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee: $500October 30, 2024, 12:05 am

Story
***Angel and Tiger are a bonded pair. They must be adopted together.*** Angel (black) and Tiger (tan & white) are sister and brother duo who are adoptable as a bonded pair.  Their owner who had become unhoused and knowing she needed to rehome them, reached out to our rescue for assistance. Angel and Tiger are 3 yr old Shih Tzus who weigh about 10 pounds. They are young, happy and  active little dogs who are friendly and love to sit with their humans. They are crate-trained and doing well with house training if taken out on a regular schedule.  They are playful, but not hyper, and are good at entertaining themselves.  They have not been leash-trained yet.  Angel is more outgoing and loves to play with toys and retrieve the frisbee. She can be a little bossy and tries to run the show, but Tiger doesn’t mind. He has a quieter personality and is content to just be near his human or take a little nap.  Their personalities really do complement each other. Angel loves to do zoomies around the yard and Tiger is content to smell the flowers. They know their names and come when called, but they are small & quick around doorways.  These two could be a trip hazard for someone with balance issues.  Tiger has dry eye, which is not uncommon with Shih Tzus, so he’ll need Tacrolimus eye drops daily in both eyes. Tiger will come with 2 bottles of Tacrolimus which should last approximately 4 months. The average cost of a bottle is $75.  One bottle should last 60-70 days. Tiger is easy to administer eye drops to.      We are requiring that Angel and Tiger be adopted together. If there are any other dogs in the home, they will need to weigh no more than 15 lbs. Tiger gets along with all other dogs, but Angel has a strong personality and may need a few weeks to find her place in the home. Tiger needs a little time to become comfortable in his new home and trust his surroundings. They have to be fed separately because Tiger eats more slowly than Angel and she will bully him to try to get to his food.  Ideally, Angel and Tiger would be the only dogs in the home, but can coexist peacefully with another low-key small dog, preferably a Shih Tzu.  WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD. The secure fence must be 4ft or higher, gaps no larger than 1 1/2 inches, which is attached to the home. An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing) it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee:  $450 for each (our standard adoption fee is $500), $900 for the pair. October 30, 2024, 11:06 pm
