Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.UPDATE: Nala is a bit standoffish when she first meets people, she is more comfortable with women than men but still growls and barks when meeting any new people, and we are working on socialization skills. She is also doing well with house training.  Nala is the kind of gal that once she loves you she is yours and prefers to be only yours! I believe Nala would do best with no dogs in the home as she lived in a home with four other dogs and really does prefer one-on-one attention. Preferably only older children that are not loud or no children at all. She loves to play ball, and is currently learning to bring it back to you! Nala does tend to bark a lot when you leave her so probably no apartments, Condominiums, or duplexes for her. I am still learning more about her as times goes on. UPDATE: Nala is a Bichon Frise,  3 years old and potty pad trained. So far she's a wonderful lap dog and loves to play with toys. Meet the Quartet of Cuteness!   Nala, Bella Olaf and Big Mac aka Max are all Bichon Frise / Maltese mixes.  They may be a mom, dad and two offspring but we aren't certain.  What we do know is they all came from the same home.  Their owner died and the family was unable to keep them.  Each one has a distinct personality:  Bella is described as an 'attention hog', while Nala is more laid back and will not seek attention, but if you are willing to give it she will happily accept it.  Big Mac aka Max seems more outgoing than Olaf, who prefers at this point to 'observe' his world.  All are said to be good with other dogs and children. All will need time to adjust to a new home and routine.  Even though they are said to be good with other dogs and children, they have only lived together, so all will need slow and proper introductions to children and other dogs.  We don't know how they are with cats.  They all need basic training, including potty training.  Vet appointments for needed vaccines and spay/neuter are being done soon.  Because of their breed, each will require ongoing grooming, an additional cost to consider. We know these littles won't be with us for long so if interested in adopting any of them please apply soon.     Happy Days Dog & Cat Rescue requires a Spay/Neuter Contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization at the time of adoption. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. HDDCR holds a deposit [$50 for dogs, $25 for cats] in addition to the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog or cat was spayed/neutered by the date stipulated on the Spay/Neuter Contract. The deposit will be refunded to the adopter if spay/neuter was done according to the Spay/Neuter Contract signed by the adopter. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee, paid at the time of adoption.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 14, 2026, 4:38 am

Story
Mookie came to me from a breeder that was terminally ill and has since passed. This breeder kept her dogs in an outdoor kennel facility that had concrete and pea gravel flooring. They were not house trained and possibly had never been in a home before. . Luckily Mookie is a very sweet and cuddly dog. She will need help walking on a leash and house training. She will need a crate to help her learn...Her adoption fee covers her vet fees and grooming. Thank you.

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Meet Fern 🐾🌿 Fern is a gentle, sweet girl with a soft soul and a heart that simply needs a little time to shine. She can be a bit reserved when first meeting new people or entering new environments, but she prefers to open up at her own pace — and once she does, it’s incredibly rewarding to watch her confidence grow. She’s looking for a patient and understanding home that will let her settle in comfortably without rushing her. Kind words, calm energy, and consistency will go a long way in helping Fern feel safe and loved. Good With Kids: Over 16 please Good With Other Dogs: No Good With Cats: *See Below Housetrained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Walks Nicely On A Leash: Yes Knows Basic Commands: Some Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High): Couch Potato Special Needs: *Blind Physical Fence: N/A Favorite Toy / Activity: Couch time with human Arrival story: Moe’s human sadly passed away and he is bunking with relatives until a suitable new home is found. Approximate age / Weight: About 9 yrs old / 25 lbs. Moe's Vibe: Your One-and-Only Couch King Little body. Huge heart. Professional cuddler. Retired gentleman seeking his forever soft place to land. Moe is an adorable senior Shih Tzu mix who recently lost his beloved person, and now he’s looking for a calm, cozy home where he can devote himself to his human all over again. He’s what we lovingly call a “one-person dog” — the kind who bonds deeply and says, “You. You are my whole world.” • Expert couch companion • Low-key, polite with affection (not a slobbery kisser — a true gentleman) • Loves lounging in the grass, sunshine naps, and zooming in the yard • Totally fine with grooming and baths • Sleeps quietly in his crate near your bed like a little guardian loaf (Would prefer to be in your bed) Moe clearly prefers female energy and truly thrives when he has a woman to attach his sweet little soul to. A single woman or a calm couple (where he can pick his favorite 😉) would be perfect. *Blindness – Moe has age-onset blindness (SARDS), and honestly? He’s handling it like a champ. He’s learning his surroundings and uses voices, foot taps, and clapping to navigate. He may bump into things now and then, but once he knows the layout, he moves with growing confidence. What he needs most is: • A stable, consistent home layout • Patience while he memorizes his space • A human who talks to him (he follows voices beautifully) Blind dogs don’t feel sorry for themselves — Moe still loves the outdoors, rolling in grass, and enjoying the world in his own way. Other Animals? • Best as an only dog – other dogs tend to feel “in his way” • A calm, independent cat? He’ll politely pretend they don’t exist. Mutual agreement. Very mature. New Home: A quiet, cushy retirement home where he can have the run of the house, be someone’s shadow and heart dog and live a peaceful, predictable life full of couches, sunny naps and love. CONTACT: Please contact wtdr@waggintailsdogrescue.org with any questions or submit adoption application via our website www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoption-application. ADOPTION INFO: We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar on our website for the date and time of the next adoption event. Arrangements can be made to meet a dog outside of adoption events after an application is submitted and approved. Our adoption process includes an application and in-home meet-n-greet with the dog. -Adult Dog Adoption Fee - $250 -Senior Dog Adoption Fee - $125 -Pup Adoption Fee - $250 plus $50 spay/neuter deposit refunded upon proof of surgery by 6 mos.
