Story
Approx. DOB: 4/24/16                 Approx. Weight: 13.5 Adoption Fee: $225 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Mia is a Bichon Frise. She was a breeder Momma for some or most of her life. She can still be skittish but overall is coming out of her shell very well. She is alert and curious, and very sweet! She is not a lap dog but does want to be a part of what is going on in the home and will stay close by. Mia has a feisty side and likes to pull all of the shoes out of her foster Mom's shoe rack, she never chews them, just displaces them.  She also loves to play with the curtains - but not in a destructive way. Her activity level doesn't match her age, if the shelter's guess on her age was accurate. Mia has made herself at home and knows how comfortable the couch is and loves to curl up. She also enjoys sleeping on her foster Mom's bed at night. Mia is mostly housebroken but not 100% yet. She will need time and patience to master that skill. She rides well in a car and even walks on a leash pretty well. When she visited our veterinarian she did hear a heart murmur, grade 2-3. As a precaution she started her on a low dose of Pimobendan 2x a day to help prevent the murmur from getting worse. This medicine will need to be continued. Children 10 and older as she did not appreciate the small child in her former home that didn't know how to treat animals appropriately. Mia does not like to be crated and will fuss, she does well baby gated in the kitchen with another dog for company when her foster leaves the home. A fenced yard is preferred for Mia. Mia has been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible.   Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support!
