All curls and they are all natural! Well, like I care, haha! I’m much more interested in sniffing around, rolling on my back, showing off how well I sit and give paw and just having fun and being loved. I’m an affectionate little dog, super gentle and super friendly is how one of the Canine Care staff members described me. So while I also know the command wait, hopefully you know the command “complete an application to adopt Toby!”. I turned out to be diabetic so I get insulin shots but these are very easy to give. Don’t let this scare you.

Holly is a perfect example of why we promote 'adopt don't shop.' This former puppy mill breeder dog had one purpose in life. To have babies and make the greedy breeder money. She was not shown the love and compassion she deserved. Holly is slowly learning that people can be kind and loving. She needs a home with patient, understanding people who will give her time to adjust to being a family pet. Holly has amazing potential for the right household. She adores other dogs and would love at least one friendly canine sibling. Holly's home should also have a fenced yard. We don't blame you if you'd like to snuggle with sweet Time and his soft fur. The good news is, once you get past his "hard to get" game, this little Bichon Frise is the cuddliest! Time is only 9 months old, so he's still just a baby and is working on training. He's doing well in his puppy pen and is making great progress with potty training! He enjoys following the other dogs in his foster home, learning from them, and would do well with a confident canine sibling in his forever home. He does well with children and strangers after some initial stand offishness - he can't resist snuggles! Time loves to play and will be a wonderful family addition to his future adopter's home. He is looking for an adopter who will be patient with his training needs. He's happy to be part of the action or to lounge around - whatever your pace is, he will match it! Born around July 8, 2021, Charlie was tragically thrown over the fence onto our property late one freezing night, matted and terrified. Thankfully, a staff member of ours spotted him and ensured his safety.  Despite his rough start, Charlie has blossomed into an affectionate and gentle companion. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and people, making him a fantastic fit for almost any home. Charlie’s sweet nature and resilience are sure to win your heart. Charlie’s adoption fee is $400, which includes his neuter, heartworm-negative test, up-to-date vaccines, and prevention (ProHeart and Bravecto). He’s currently located in Texas but is eligible for transport to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington (Kentucky), or anywhere along the East Coast. Please note there is an additional transport fee of $225, and we are unable to transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to state regulations. Say hello to beautiful Opal! This sweet girl is about 9 years old. She’s a rescued puppy mill mama Bichon. Like so very many of these so-called breeder releases (i.e. no longer producing sellable puppies so no longer of any value to the business operators) she is extremely timid and unsure of life outside of a locked box. She does not trust humans - and I don`t blame her one little bit. After many months in her foster home, she has made progress, but that progress is always guarded and often accompanied by a swift return to where she was before the progress (she`s a one step forward, two steps back kind of gal). She watches my every move with curiosity/suspicion, lol. She likes to be near the me and the pack when I`m home but doesn`t necessarily want to cuddle in with us. She`s more of a `I`ll be over here watching you, but you can reach over and pet me if you want,` type of pup. She does get excited when I get home from work and will sometimes do zoomies in the yard with the big boys, but she doesn`t want me bursting her fun bubble by trying to get too close. I have built trust with her to the point where she wants to be by me, wants me to pet her, lets me do anything I need to do with her (besides go for a walk), but she is usually still nervous during it all. Heartwarming are the times when she is truly relaxed and enjoying some love from me - those times are slowly building in frequency. Love and patience are paying off. She must have a fenced-in yard at her new home as a leash isn’t an option for this sweetheart. She is going to need time and lots of patient, unconditional love and support to transition into a new life. Hi! My name is Eli Mae, a poodle bichon mixMy foster mom is Linda Peterson Hyde. I am currently crashing at her house in Raymond until I can find my permanent Home. You can contact her for more information 262-909-7883. Enough about her, time to tell you about me. The vet assumes I am 3-5 years old and my teeth look great. Here are a few things I like: my greenie treats at night, the other big and small dogs in the house, a yard to play in, and slowly getting used to being touched and held. It does feel good once I trust you.( I was a puppy mill dog so people make me nervous). Things I’m a bit afraid of: loud noises, doorways, some people, and that horrible leash so a fenced in yard is a must. I am working really hard on the “potty” thing too. I usually just follow what the other dogs in the house do. I am told often l am the sweetest thing with such sad loving eyes. I will make a great companion, you just need to be patient with me. Meet Penny Penny is a purebred Shih Tzu who joined us in July after being found laying on a sidewalk in Chicago earlier in the summer during a heatwave. She was heatstroke and very dehydrated; a good Samaritan took her to the ER for immediate care. With fluids and support care, Penny recovered and was taken to Chicago Animal Control where she sat, until we took her into our Rescue. Penny is a sweet little pup, estimated to be 2-3 years old, and just 11 lbs. She has somewhat of a unique personality, for a young pup. She’s very mellow and is a bit of a loner. While fine with other dogs, she is not really interested in playing with them. That said, she may prefer to be an only dog but we do expect her to evolve into her true self, once she settles into her forever home with her forever family. Penny is fully vetted, heartworm negative and on year-round prevention, spayed and microchipped. She is reported to be housebroken as well.
