BACKGROUND: Rescued from a puppy mill that used Inez as a practice dog for grooming. Many dogs were found sick with injuries. ABOUT SHELTER STRESS Dogs who have lived in shelters for a long period of time develop behaviors due to an environment that is loud, chaotic, and stressful, even in best shelters in the US. Dogs in shelters have limited socialization exposure to people and urban environments. DoVE dogs also come from a traumatic background such as dog meat farms and slaughterhouses. While many of our dogs acclimate within a few months with consistency, structure, and patience, some of our more sensitive dogs can take longer to rehabilitate. It's important to note that these sensitive dogs are even more attuned to human emotions and behavior, making for a deeper connection human-dog connection. DoVE Project is committed to helping our adopters desensitize and socialize our dog meat trade survivors. ********************************* DoVE Project operates a shelter in South Korea, where our dogs stay until they are matched with an adopter. We are raising funds for all of her diagnostic procedures--Xrays, Ultrasounds, CBC, Urinalysis--for her extensive dental work, and extraction and suturing of six very bad removed teeth, and for her bladder stone removal surgery, JENNY is a Maltipoo, a Maltese/Poodle cross. Jenny is 7 years old and weighs about 15 pounds. She is a cream and white color, and she is also hypoallergenic! JENNY is very intelligent and inquisitive. She is housetrained, sweet, gentle, playful, loving, affectionate, a lot of fun to be with, and not destructive. Sweet and fun loving Holly has been through a lot. She was found completely matted and neglected at the shelter. It's clear she was treated badly and she needs time to adjust to new surroundings but once she feels comfortable, she loves her humans and bonds deeply. Once she finds her loving home, we hope she can finally have the unconditional love she deserves. Because she can scare easy we think she's better off in a home with no kids at this time. Our best guess is she's a maltese or Bichon Frise or poodle. She's 100% amazing. She needs experienced owner(s) because she's been through a lot and takes some time to trust new people. If she gets spooked, she can nip. So she needs people who will love her unconditionally even while she's adjusting and even if she has some moments where she wants to be left alone. Meet Leigha, a 8-year-old Shih Tzu who was rescued after being abandoned at a middle school. This little girl is the epitome of sweetness, with a heart full of love. Leigha loves to follow her favorite person around the house, always wanting to be close by. She thrives in the company of others, so she'd do best in a home with another dog (she's a big fan of her furry friends!) and with people who are home most of the day. Leigha can get a bit anxious if left alone, but does great if left with another friendly dog.She’s also a fantastic travel companion, enjoying car rides and outings. At night, she loves to curl up in bed with her family or is ok in bed with another dog. She also is ok being crated with another friendly dog (right now she is besties with a golden)! When it comes to walks, Leigha enjoys her time outside. We recommend her for a home with older kids (ages 4 and up) and someone who is ok with continuing her skin medication (helps with her allergies).
