Escargot was rescued from the shelter as a matted lump of hair. This puppy needed a makeover and well… we simply had to take over, to quote Glinda! After several baths and two sessions at the groomer, Escargot’s gorgeous face emerged from behind his mask of matted hair. Now, he’s ready to rock and roll his way into your forever home! Escargot weighs 5 pounds and will stay under 10 pounds when fully grown. He’s a little guy with a big personality! Ready for the cutest little buddy? Order up some Escargot!       Escargot is a petite, charming little gentleman with a coat of soft, curly hair. His bright eyes are alight with curiosity about the world around him as he zooms around with his collection of toys. Escargot is full of the perfect combination of spunk and sweetness. He loves snuggling up in laps or curling up on a blanket, but once you’re ready to play he’s up with a wagging tail! If you look up “cuddler” in the dictionary, you’ll find Escargot! He makes himself comfortable wherever he goes, whether that’s a lap, a dog bed, or your bed! He trots after his humans as they go about their daily routines and loves being part of the action. He’d be an amazing companion for a remote worker as he’s the best buddy for anyone seeking a cuddler. Escargot is very adaptable to the energy of his humans. His legs may be short but he can zoom with the best of them! Escargot would love a home ready to show him all the best in life, as he deserves all the love and affection! We can’t wait to see this fluffy prince thrive as he grows up!   Escargot is an early riser because he knows the early bird gets the treats! He enjoys a brisk morning walk followed by breakfast and cuddles. He kicks off his afternoon with a midday nap in preparation for a walk around the neighborhood. Dinner is served in the early evening and then he gets one last potty walk before bed. During the day, he alternates between sleeping on his plush dog bed and his foster mom’s lap. He loves getting his daily nap punch card filled! He sleeps soundly through the night in his puppy pen where he dreams of all the yummy snacks in his future!  Escargot loves dogs and cats alike and would love a playmate in his forever home. He loves saying hello to the neighborhood dogs and humans on his regular walks. He walks well on a leash and is mostly potty trained. Escargot is such a sweetheart and he charms even the most dog-hesitant people. You won’t regret ordering up this adorable little delicacy, so adopt Escargot for a culinary adventure.     Escargot is only an option for homes who have owned a dog in the last 5 years. Due to his small size, kids should be over the age of 10. December 17, 2024, 4:45 am

Story
Skipper  is happy and full of life. He loves to be active on hikes, walks, playing with toys, and running around in the backyard. He can also slow down and cuddle on the couch with you.   We’ve started training with him, and he would greatly benefit from a person who is committed to continuing his training and helping him progress.  He is stubborn, so training is key. Energy Level?  Medium to High House trained?  Yes, 100%. He had never had an accident in the house. He routinely potties  about 15ish minutes after each meal. Describe how they are on leash?   Skipper  LOVES his walks. He does tend to pull, but we are working on it. Describe how they are with other dogs? Skipper would love to be the only dog in the home. Once Skipper is thoughtfully paired with the right dog and they play styles match, Skipper loves to play. Skipper's high energy play, can be much for some lower energy dogs. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  He has not been introduced to cats. Commands they know?  Sit What are their favorite things?  Toys, cuddles, walks, wrestling with their human  What do they need to work on?  Polite dog behavior and walking without pulling. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  Skipper is left two -three times a week and he stays in an xpen for about 6 hours. He whines for a few minutes then sleeps most of the time and is mostly quiet. Where do they sleep?  In his xpen or crate What is their ideal home?  Skipper would thrive in an active home where he can get plenty of exercise. Ideally, he’d be the only dog, and he excels in an environment with clear structure and routine. We’ve started training with him, and he would greatly benefit from a person who is committed to continuing his training and helping him progress. Story
This little gem is a medical special needs pup. Sasha is a very sweet and easy going 3 year old Bichon mix; she is about 11 pounds. She loves all people and dogs and enamors everyone she meets. She walks well on leash, sleeps through the night in her crate, and does relatively well with her alone time. She has an adorable way of getting one's attention and loves to play with other dogs. Unfortunately Sasha was most likely hit by a car at some point and her spine is broken in her lower back. She has full use of all her legs, but she's completely incontinent. Her foster assists her to empty her bladder 3-4 times per day (easy to do, and a potential adopter could be taught to do it). If she is assisted to empty her bladder, her diaper stays dry and her fur stays clean. Due to her condition, Sasha is prone to UTIs, but helping her to empty her bladder regularly decreases this potential. Luckily she doesn't show any signs of pain and has a full life expectancy. Sasha will need to live with someone who is home most of the time. She'd probably do best in a home with a yard, so she doesn't always have to be in a diaper, but she would also be an easy dog for an apartment dweller as she doesn't necessarily have to be walked first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Since Sasha is "non-shedding, she will need regular grooming. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Sasha is $200. If you are interested in adopting Sasha, please complete our online adoption application at  https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/   . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. We will consider applicants outside the 9-county San Francisco Bay Area for Sasha, as long as applicant is able to travel to Oakland for meet and greet, and pick up.
