Story
I got Godiva as a puppy from a navy family that was moving. And this is so hard because she choose me. My girl is very good at cuddling, she loves people and their food so be careful with you plate, very loyal, protective even from leaves or passerby, loves the beach, long walks, but absolutely hates her nails trimmed, don't squish her ears cause she doesn't like that and she will let you know(yelp), good with kids and cats. Honestly, this is the hardest thing I've had to do. Im newly divorced and thought I could do it on my own. Now if anything happens to her I cant help her. She is 12yrs old but you couldn't tell besides all the white that now covers her face. She listens to sit, come, stay, and she understands English so speak freely. House trained and create trained but I leave her out all day and no messes or accidents. I just want her to live the rest of her life out peacefully.

Story
Imagine if your loveseat could love you back! That’s Duke.Eleven years old, vast, fluffy, and devoted. Duke’s whole world was rearranged when his family surrendered him -- through no fault of his own. This Great Pyrenees Mix had been fabulous in the home, with excellent house and leash manners and fabulous social skills. His first few days here, he softly moaned. Not loudly. Not dramatically. Just a low, confused hum of “What happened?” It was heartbreaking. And then -- in the most dignified Duke way -- he shook it off.He decided that if this was his new chapter, he would meet it with grace. Now he stretches his enormous self across the floor like a living throw blanket. A fuzzy island you technically need to step over to accomplish anything. But you won’t. You’ll sit down instead. Because Duke is irresistible. He steals your heart and your schedule -- not by demanding attention, but by simply being soft and sweet and right there. He’s one of our favorite office dogs. We love having him in the food prep area. He's absolutely large enough to inhale every meal in sight, but he never so much as tries. He just lays by our feet and radiates love like a benevolent, slightly oversized cloud.Health-wise, Duke is doing well. He’s a few pounds overweight -- aren’t we all after a stressful season? -- and he has some pink skin from a flea allergy that's already healing now that he’s flea-free. And yesterday, something magical happened. He spotted a soft squeaky toy. His whole face lit up. He did the gentlest happy bounce, selected his prize, and proudly paraded around all morning with a tiny stuffed emoji ball in his mouth. He chose the happy one.If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate, gentle senior who will quietly anchor your days, warm your floors, and make your loveseat jealous -- Duke is waiting.Animal Aid Society is located at 80 Butler Farm Road in Hampton, VA. Visiting hours are 9am to noon, including weekends and holidays.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.
