DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Dude is 1yr/9mos old, weighs 90lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccines, and is microchipped.   Dude is crated when his guardians are not around; he sleeps in his crate at night; he dislikes/fears sounds and 'unknown things'; he unfortunately doesn't do well during car rides, as he is anxious to point of making himself sick even with meds; and he knows 'sit', and 'paw'.  Dude's guardian adds:   :He is a huge cuddler and LOVES attention, but his anxiety makes him a wild card. He has been with us since 8 weeks old and has had high anxiety since day 1.  We hoped he would grow out of it and even got another dog to be his buddy and help him, aling with training, but he still has high anxiety.  He is not a mean or aggressive dog in general, but driven by anxiety, which makes him unpredictable.  He does not listen to soft sweet voices.  He really is a good dog and we are all broken hearted to make this decision.  He lets the kiddos hang all over him and super cuddly most of the time.  But while one of the kids was talking super excitedly and loud with arms waving around he startled him and he reacted.  Fortunately, the kiddo moved arm quick enough.  But that might not be the case next time." Dude's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him.  "We are worried that he will bite one of our kids or visitors (kids or adults) due to high anxiety when there is a lot going on.  He has been very close and we have been working on his anxiety with meds and behavior training, but we cannot risk their safety." Bite incident:  On 15 December 2023, in Ellicott City, Dude bit someone while in his crate; the bite broke the skin; animal control was not involved.  Dude's guardian explains:  "He had a stolen item in his crate that we did not know about, so when someone tried to give him love, he attacked trying to guard it." Dude's guardian offers a brief a medical history:  "He is pretty healthy other than the anxiety.  We have him on supplements for his hips." Dude's guardian states the following regarding children:  Dude lives with 4 children, ages 4-10, but his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children, stating "He loves them, but they can make him anxious and he will herd/guard them sometimes". Dude's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Dude lives with another dog, so his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "He loves playing with other dogs and loves doggie daycare". Dude's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Dude lives with a cat, but his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats, stating "He's VERY curious, but our cat is not a fan.  I am not sure how he would do with a cat that was willing to accept his intentions". Dude's guardian describes him as: Very active Barks alot Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Protective Nervous House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Dude's guardian describes his ideal future home:  "He would be great with a family with just adults (and hopefully other dogs).  He is so loving and playful, but he will need continued help with his anxiety.  He is trained for an electric fence, so he loves to play in the yard with us or his brother.  He would be great in a home with not much going on.  Although he is good with kids in general, I wouldn't recommend it due to the unpredictability.  Someone that can give him lots of attention and can be consistent and firm (with the way you say commands) with him." Story
Josie is a sweetheart. Loves to snuggle and play fetch. She is a true Velcro dog, but almost to a fault. She suffers from separation anxiety and does not like to be confined to a crate. She will drool excessively when she stays in one. She gets very excited when I return from work or anywhere and will bark and jump and it can be intimidating, but she is not aggressive towards me or my husband. She will calm down after a few minutes and then turns into a chill girl laying on the floor near you or playing with her toys. She is protective of her people and does bark at strangers sometimes. She also does not get along with female dogs and has had three fights with my 2 senior girls but gets along great with our male dog. She has gone to two trainers to try to help build her confidence and help him her anxiety. She is currently on Trazadone when we go to work. She would do best in a home with no female dogs and with someone who has patience with dogs with anxiety.

Story
Leo - neutered male, 2 years Say hello to Leo! Leo is searching for his forever home! Leo is very shy, he will need a patient home who understands he will need a calm environment so he can bloom at his own pace! Leo does best in a home with another dog. Having a doggy companion helps Leo to feel more at ease! Leo can often be found snuggled up on his blanket, playing with his toys! He is a big fan of stuffed toys. Leo does well with other dogs. We have not seen him around cats. A home with older, respectful kids would be best due to Leo being a bit skittish. If you would like to open your home to Leo, please fill out an application for him today! Leo is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped
