Story
Striking? Alluring? Knock Out?
Leo is all of these and more.
Meet Loving Leo, an approximately 8 year old Bengal. Leo is a Melanistic Bengal, meaning his coat takes on a much darker color than a traditional Bengal Cat. Leo was surrendered to RR by his owners after struggling with litter box issues for several years. Unfortunately Leo is declawed on his front paws, and is a strictly indoor kitty.
We have done some bloodwork and urinalysis to determine if Leo has any medical needs contributing to his litter box issues, and his urine revealed some protein and crystals. Our veterinarian recommended switching Leo to a urinary care diet and adding in Methigel supplement to help prevent crystal build up. He also had a brief ultrasound when collecting a urine sample and no bladder stones were noted (yay)!
Leo is an affectionate and loving guy who isn't your typically independent Bengal. He is a little aloof, but also seeks out attention on his terms. He loves to be petted and loved on. His previous home had multiple other cats, and while he gets along with most cats well, we feel that the home had too much excitement and action for Leo. He is currently in our catio with Sprinkles and Bobbie Jean, and doing well with both girls. Leo has not been behaviorally assessed with dogs yet, however we believe he would be a good candidate for a cat-savvy dog who respects his boundaries.
Leo has been neutered, vaccinated, FIV/FeLV tested negative, dewormed, and currently on flea/tick prevention. He has also had a small bloodwork panel and urinalysis completed. He is declawed on his front paws, but still has his rear claws.
***You may notice Leo's adoption fee is slightly higher than our standard cat adoption fee. Because Leo is a Bengal and is already having urinary issues (but is on track to being properly managed), we would like Leo's next family to be his last! We hope that his adopters will be understanding and willing to work with his medical needs, and continue to provide him with wonderful care.
***Leo's nose is normally not red, it is a chocolate brown (almost black). He was not thrilled to take a car ride to his photo shoot, and rubbed his nose raw on the front of the cat carrier. While plastic cat carriers are generally a preferred option for us for transporting kitties, Leo will now be riding in a cloth carrier or back pack to prevent him from rubbing his nose.
