I would love to introduce you to little Bella! A gorgeous classic black tabby with fur that will remind you of silk and picturesque green eyes and although we are unable to confirm her parentage, we see Bengal breed characteristics and think beautiful Bella is a Bengal mix. Coming into rescue, Bella was naturally very scared and shy. It’s a completely new world for her to be loved and cared for but slowly she has recognized that being loved is a good thing! This past month Bella has really started to come out of her shell and not only enjoys affection and attention but demands it! Her communication skills are spot on and enjoys a good conversation with you. Pets and brushing are among the things highest on her loves list and while shes not yet an official lap cat, she does like to be close to you. Bella is FIV+ and although FIV is a lifetime diagnosis, she can easily live a long normal life with a few minor adjustments. Cats with FIV must live indoors and can happily live with other indoor, non-aggressive cats. Regular vaccinations, and treatment for fleas, mites, and worms are also important, so a yearly checkup is crucial to this loving girl. She recently had a checkup with our veterinarian and noted no health concerns. We think Bella would do best in a calm quiet home as either an only cat or with another gentle non-aggressive kittyn. Raji and Lakshmi are basically indoor cats that have never been outdoors without 100% supervision. Taking Raji for walks and access to an outdoor Catio enclosure would be a plus for them. They've never been around dogs so we don't know how they would respond. Perhaps a laid back cat friendly dog would be okay. She said we have a Bengal and a red tabby Domestic here who are so sweetly bonded together and I am afraid they will be separated. She sent a photo which you can see below. I said Hmmmm that looks like a Savannah cat to me. Then I noticed that the "red tabby" had a tail that matched unusual bandings of the other cat but in red. Curious. I Googled "Red Savannah" and found to my surprise that Savannahs also come in red. These cats, Millie and Mac, turned out to be chipped and from that we learned their names and ages and breeds - both are Savannahs. Their family could not keep them due to age and medical troubles. So how great we can keep these two best friends together. Millie at 2 is the younger one. She is the adventurer, the social director, friendly to all. Lean and svelte she is all muscle. Mac is 3 and quite a bit bigger. He is the poet and dreamer of the two. He is slower to trust new people. When he accepts you then he shows you his tender gentle sweetness. We haven't had them long, only a month, and already he has decided to come out of his hiding cat bed so we can see what a great boy he is. These two are such an unusual pair. Savannah cats are not good apartment dwellers, they need space to play and climb. Their home needs to provide them with lots of stimulation and entertainment. Climbing trees and windows are great. They love hanging out in catios. Many can be harness trained. They are unusually loyal to their chosen humans and bond very deeply. They are as small and friendly as a house cat but still have some characteristics of their larger jungle ancestors. For the right home this relationship they offer is fascinating. Choosing a Savannah, like choosing a Bengal, is a life style choice. These are not sleep on the couch kitties. Their new family needs to be willing to adjust their lifestyle to their special kitties. This Cleo lives up to her name: she is glorious, with beauty beyond measure, well mannered, openly friendly with people she meets, and will grace your lap when sitting on a sofa. This lovely girl is welcoming, interactive, conversational and personable. Cleo is a very good girl too! She is not destructive at all, does not scratch furniture; and is great with her litter box. She loves her treats and laying on her cat tree looking out the window. Her current diet consists of Kirkland dry food, churros and Sheba treats. Cleo is healthy and up to date on her vaccines. Her current owner is experiencing health issues and has reached out to us to seek a quiet home for beloved Cleo. She does fine during the day on her own during a regular work schedule. When she hears the garage door open she will be right there waiting to greet you. Cleo loves kids. Ages 11 and up will be considered. She is not a good candidate for teaching kids how to handle cats as this would give her anxiety. She becomes anxious if she is squeezed or forced to do something she is not comfortable with such as being held/carried for long periods of time or being chased. Cleo will eat fabric and plastic if she is feeling anxious, so we need to avoid busy households and hectic environments. She is aggressive towards other cats and needs to be a strictly indoor only pet, with no other four footed companions.
