Story
Name: Tarot Breeds: Belgian Tervuren/ Dutch Shepherd Mix Age: Young Adult Sex: Male Size: Large A pretty face and legs up to here, Tarot has all the makings of a model. He doesn't have a big head about it though! This humble guy came into a local impound after suffering a horrific injury at the hands of someone who had just purchased him in the days prior. He has spent the last few months healing and his wound is almost fully healed and he is nearly ready to find his forever home! He is an absolute love. He had endless patience with all the bandage changes, the cone wearing, and the vet visits. He didn't enjoy the short term restricted activity though! Thankfully it was only a week and he was cleared to be his playful self. This guy is the energy level you'd expect from his breeds and needs an active home who can tire him out mentally and physically. He is smart, he loves to work out puzzle and food toys, and is an excellent walking/jogging partner. He is quite the water dog as well! He is excellent with dogs and likes to play with them though equally loves his humans and would be happy in a home with or without another dog. He is housetrained and crates well but prefers to be in a dog-proofed area rather than a crate when alone. He is gated in the hallway with a bone and dog bed at his foster home and he does much better with that than in the crate Requirements: Training sign up required Adoption Fee: $500 + tax. This includes neuter/spay, current vaccinations as age appropriate, heartworm/tick testing in dogs over 8 months of age, deworming, microchip and current Heartgard and Nexgard preventatives. Story
Hi there! My name is Beni and I'm a big handsome boy! Let me tell you about myself.  I was adopted as a puppy but due to some family problems, with no fault of my own, I was returned to the rescue. My first week or so at my new foster home I was very confused and it was scary. I stayed in my kennel a lot, but I started warming up to my foster mom. We went on walks and I started feeling more comfortable. Then I started to get to know the resident dogs and made friends. Now, I am still nervous around new people but when I get to know you, I'll be your best friend.  I'm a silly boy who likes to play! I run around the backyard, I like to play in the kiddie pool, and even like to stick my head in the water bowl! I do like to play but I love my humans! I want to know where you are so I'll follow you around and I'll jump on the couch or bed to be with you. I wouldn't do well with small children because I'm a bigger guy. I also don't think I'd do well with cats because I want to chase them. I'm a good boy on walks and I ride in the car well! When I see my leash, I get really excited! I also do well in my kennel. When my foster parents leave the house, I go right into my kennel. I even did well at the vet recently.  Are you ready to meet me? I'm ready for my new, forever family! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Distemper combo vaccines appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 12:47 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $500 plus taxViola (aka Roxy) is a sweet little girl....shy at meeting new people so need to give her a few minutes and she will gradually approach and sniff you. Once she realizes you are ok, she will warm up to you. Viola is a dog who does best if there is another dog in the home. She loves to play with other dogs and is more relaxed if she has a buddy to hang out with. She is fine with cats....pretty much ignores them.  She is used to being in a kennel for long periods of time and is quiet when kenneled. She appears to be potty trained and doesn't mess in her kennel either. She is not a big barker right now as she is a bit insecure.... But that could change the more confident she becomes. It took awhile for her to want to crawl in my lap and seek petting, but with encouragement and realizing it felt pretty good to snuggle on my lap and get attention, she is becoming more comfortable with it.  She would be a wonderful addition to any family! If you are interested in adopting or fostering, submit an application!  You will then be teamed up with our Placement Team to move forward in the process, ask questions, and figure out the best potential match possible.  Given the right circumstances, you may be able to foster first before making an adoption official as well through our Adoption Hold program. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $350 plus taxMeet Pixie, she is being surrendered by her owner, who adopted her a year or so ago, due to lack of time and having human medical things going on.   They were honest in that they didn't do much with her and socializing her outside of the family.  Pixie is a typical shepherd that is looking for:   A leader to help her become the best she can be Someone who won't make her be in charge, she really doesn't like it nor does she know what to do with it. A German Shepherd savvy owner who wants to train her, socialize her,  so awkward when meeting new people She is house trained, well mannered for her family and really wants to be a social butterfly, but she needs focus and simple training to be able to do that.  She is good with other dogs.  Cats are unknown.  Small kids might be a bit too chaotic for her.A note from her surrendering ownerWe adopted Pixie in October of 2022 and we have loved having her in our home.  She is sweet and loving and very loyal to her people.  She is an excellent guard dog and lets us know when anyone is close by.  She loves to play fetch and she loves to run around in the yard.  She doesn’t like sudden movements or loud noises.  She is afraid of brooms, mops or anything that resembles a long stick.  Pixie received one-on-one training through Happy Tailz last summer and she proved to be a very good student.  She understands a lot of words and is extremely smart.  We are sad that our situation has changed and has made it difficult for us to take care of Pixie.  We hope Pixie can find her forever home where she can get all the time and love she deserves. If you love German Shepherds and really want to make a difference in one's life, she is your girl!
