Story
Looks like: German Shepherd Female, Estimated 5 years old, 58 pounds Lucy is the biggest lovebug and will make someone the perfect, loyal companion! A little shy at first, Lucy warms up quickly and is super friendly. She loves affection and kisses from adults and children. This good-natured shepherd is very smart and trainable. For Lucy to be her best self, her ideal fur-ever home should continue her leash training to make sure she continues to progress with her social skills. Lucy gets along great with most dogs her size or larger. She has lived with other German Shepherds at a former foster home. She actually loves the companionship of other dogs! Lucy would do best in a home without smaller dogs or cats, as she still isn't quite sure what to make of them. Lucy's dream day would include breakfast, a walk around the neighborhood, treats, playtime with doggie pals, and dinner. Once you're part of Lucy's inner circle, you are "in." She is truly loyal and will stay close to you. Lucy loves to be by your side and is very calm in the house. Lucy was found as a stray and brought to Hitchcock Road Animal Services, where it was clear she had been used as a breeder dog and has had many litters of puppies. After a tough start in life, Lucy would love nothing more than a family to call her own.

Story
Looks like: German Shepherd mix Female, 5 years old (estimated), 45 pounds Gretchen is looking for her luck to change. This poor girl was initially found in terrible shape from a hoarding situation. She was skin and bones and horrified of the world. We imagine she didn't what life was like outside of her former home/crate. We would love nothing more than to find a home for Gretchen to spent her days and to get her feeling her best. Gretchen has put on some healthy weight in our care but she still has a long road ahead of her. She is searching for a compassionate and behavior savvy (or excited to learn!) home that can continue her behavior support. Gretch gets along beautifully with other dogs and doesn't even mind feline companions. Gretchen came to us from the Riverside County Animal Shelter after being found in a hoarding situation.

Story
Looks like: German Shepherd mix Male, 12 years old (estimated), 79 pounds What Pancho wants most is to be by his best friend's side. Could that best friend be you? Pancho is a loving, mellow pup who likes to say hello to everyone he meets. This goofy guy can often be found rolling around in the grass, gnawing on tennis balls, or relaxing on the couch. But mainly, he just wants to be wherever you are. Pancho would do best in a house where he can be the only apple of your eye/ but he may also do well with other mellow dogs, provided they're good at giving him some personal space. We have not yet seen how Pancho does with kitties or kiddos. We'd want to make sure all interactions were monitored and small children were respectful before making a match in a home with kids. Pancho loves going for walks, but he has some arthritis and can't walk far distances or very quickly. He does, however, adore going for wagon rides, and his foster has graciously offered to provide his adopter with a wagon to allow him to continue these rides. Pancho came to us from Contra Costa Animal Services because the shelter was over capacity.
