Story
Meet Chip, a 3-year-old male German Shepherd mix.Chip is such a cute and handsome boy. He and a dog buddy were found roaming the streets of Yakima by animal control. Chip is a smart boy who walks incredibly well on the leash and is a good listener. We don't understand why this boy keeps getting over looked. He knows "sit" and is working on "wait" and "lay down". We can't express what a joy it is to work with Chip.Chip enjoys playing with rope toys in the yard and when it is time to go to the kennel he will run back to his and get in/sit without a fuss, patiently waiting for his yummy treat. Chip is great with other dogs we have introduced him to, so much so that he is now the dog we use to test friendliness of other dogs in his run. We could spend all day saying great things about Chip but you just have to meet this fantastic boy in person to really understand.Chip went on a public dog walk recently and this is what they had to say about him! "Initially very excited to be outside and pulled at the leash. He was very responsive to cues and settled in after 10 minutes. By the end of the walk, he was walking next to me with no tension on the leash. He did not chase after a cat who ran by us though he was more enticed by a squirrel. He was affectionate and enjoyed pets and attention. With cues, he ignored other dogs who were antagonizing him. He's such a sweet boy with beautiful eye contact."This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Adopt Don't Shop.

Story
Meet Minnie, a three year old Belgian Malinois/Shepherd mix. Minnie was brought in as a stray and is a sweetheart of a girl. She can be a little timid/shy at first but the minute you bring out any toy with a squeaker it is GAME ON. Minnie walks great on a leash and we absolutely adore her wonky ears. If you have any other dogs in your home we always recommend a meet and greet prior to adoption. However, Minnie has met both small and large dogs while here at the shelter and has done well, even wanting to play with one. Minnie went on a public dog walk and this is what they had to say about her. "Initially was a bit docile and low key with her walk. She started off a little timid but it's interesting that her playful side came out and she wanted to run around a bit. She also liked rolling in the fresh cut grass. I dropped my phone when we were running around and she found it before I did (great nose). Sorry I didn't get as good of a picture. She was way more interested in checking out the scenery and smells than posing."If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org.
