Story
Cynthia is a lovely German Shepherd-female, who looks like she has had a hard life-just to be 3 years old. She came in to the shelter as a stray-very skinny. She lays quietly on her bed waiting for the volunteers to take her out for her walk. She sleeps a lot-she doesn't smile much-but you can tell that she loves being near someone. She walks closely to her person-mindful to follow on leash-she leans in for hugs, and loves to have her head scratched. Typical of this breed, Cynthia seems to be a sensitive dog-she is waiting for that devoted person that she can trust. After her walk-she goes easily back to her kennel-her safe place-If you think you can make room for Cynthia-to take your time and build her trust and be her person-you won't be disappointed.Although she is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $400 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. If you're interested in learning more about her, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Cynthia 256075".She is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be spayed prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. By the time she got the medical treatment she needed, her leg needed to be amputated. She is not letting her past (or missing leg) get her down though! She is still so full of life and love! Here is how her foster parents rank her pup skills:Playfulness - 8/10Energy - 9/10Goofiness - 6/10Snuggle buddy - 15/10Toy lover - 10/10Cat lover - 7/10 (she wants to play with them so bad!)Dog lover - 8/10 (slow introductions) Small humans - 9/10 (very patient) Being her humans’ shadow - 10/10She is ready to find her forever family and share all her love and joy!If you are interested in this animal please start by filling out an adoption application at http://www.CFP-NC.org/adoptions and we will get in touch with you.
