Story
Olive is an eager, happy youngster who is ready to join a very dog experienced home who can give her the consistency, activity, training she craves. Olive is an achiever she is built for action and learning; she needs and takes to direction well, and needs to know to look to her person for approval, and direction. She is head strong and protective, needing strong leadership! She is a very affectionate young dog who is dog-friendly and house-broken. Olive needs a bit of work on her leash manners. She is very dog friendly, but no beta. An active and engaged person that has the time to provide ongoing socialization, lots of on and off-leash activity, fun, road trips and adventure is going to be the right match for Olive. Does Olive sound like the right match for you? She'll keep you on your toes, love you to the end of the world...she's also cuddly, but ready for action! Olive is at our Sanctuary - but may well come down to Point Richmond for a spell - she is a beauty and a diamond in the RUFF!

Story
Say hello to Zelda! Zelda (aka Zelly Belly), is a gorgeous four year old Belgian Malinois. She is extremely loving and adores getting cuddles from her people, especially snuggling up on the couch.  Zelda is extremely smart and has high food drive, but her prey drive is even higher so a home without small animals would be best for this girl. She does well with other dogs with proper slow introductions, and is currently being fostered with male and female German Shepherds as well as a Dutch Shepherd and does great with all of them. She is such a sweet social girl! Zelda is not food possessive and does not resource guard her toys from her humans which is a great treat for a Malinois in a family environment. She is being fostered in a home with a seven year old and a fourteen year old and does great with both. She has also had visits from younger children and does well, but can get overexcited and accidentally knock them down so a home with children over five would probably be best for this sweet girl. Zelda would thrive in a breed savvy home that is willing to continue her training and give her lots of love. She craves attention and thinks she is a lap dog! She would also do well in a home with a yard for her to run out her ample energy.  Zelda is crate trained and walks well on a leash. She also rides well in a car. To see  this girl in person please fill out an application ! She can’t wait to meet you!!!! ##1866612##

Story
Meet Prince, a handsome, jet black, herding-type dog. This shy guy is growing more comfortable in the Shelter environment by the day and in turn making new friends (both human and canine). Staff have observed that Prince brightens up and really shows his adolescent, playful self when around other dogs. He is a regular in the dog-enrichment program `walking buddies` where Shelter dogs go on walking adventures with other canines to learn how to interact with other dogs out in the world. Due to the positive effect other dogs have on Prince – a home with another dog is highly recommended for Prince. Once he is relaxed and comfortable, Prince has melts into people when petting. Prince has a lot of “yeses” for his next home including walks, play and treats but there is one “no” and that is cats. From March 10th to March 17th, this dog’s adoption fee is reduced to $50 during the Get Lucky Adoption Special. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

These pups are in Hillsborough, California too!

Story
FOSTER CARE! Hello, my name is Bebe and I'm a 4 year old, spayed, smooth German Shepherd/Pitbull mix that currently weighs about 54 lbs. I'm an affectionate girl that starts off on the timid side. Once I'm comfortable, I enjoy belly rubs and daily walks! I'm hoping for a quiet home that understands that I am a wonderful, but sensitive lady who will need time to adjust into a new setting. Once I'm settled, I'm the epitome of good etiquette. I am calm and demure, most of the time. I've been known to be a fence climber when I want to be with my people. I love the game of chase! Especially with small critters like birds and squirrels so I prefer to be the only pet in the household. My foster family says I'm crate trained (I sleep there at night) and I've had minimal accidents in the house. I'm also a pro at sitting for treats! For more information, just ask Customer Service about Bebe! ID# A946402   Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by following these instructions: Please submit your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to behavior@phs-spca.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. You must be 18 or older to submit a profile. When you email your adoption profile, please include a few sentences about why you're interested in adopting me specifically and why you think I'd be a good fit for your family! Please also tell us a little bit about your dog experience, if any. We look forward to hearing from you!  Application: https://phs-spca.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/AdoptionProfiles_dog2023_fillin.pdf *The application may not work on mobile devices and iPads. Please call (650) 340-7022 for assistance. .   Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Story
Well, hello! My name is Hershey and I'm a spayed, 9-month-old, German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix who currently weighs around 55 lbs. but will most likely be around 74 to 80lbs. as an adult. I'm an energetic and effervescent girl that LOVES to play in the water! I would be the perfect companion to beach goers, river rafters or sprinkler hoppers! I can be a little uncertain on how to make doggy friends so I'm hoping to continue working on my social skills and impulse control with an active, loving family. I can't wait to meet everyone in the household including any resident dogs before I head home. Just ask Customer Service about Hershey! ID# A955664 I recently spent time with a volunteer! Here's how I did: I took Hershey out for the first time today. She was really eager to get out. Luckily the yard was available because this girl LOVES to fetch and LOVES the water! She ran happily in the yard chasing balls and splashing around. She knows drop so it’s easy to trade balls and keep her running. I also took her for a walk. She needs some work on leash manners but did not pull really hard - probably due to running zoomies before! She is affectionate.Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Story
Hi there! My name is Luna and I'm a spayed, 1-year-old, German Shepherd mix that currently weighs about 45lbs. My friends here at PHS say I'm a ball of energy (I jump for joy when I'm excited!) but sometimes I'm unsure about trying new things. I'm hoping for a new family that has experience helping playful girls like me broaden their horizons. Since I'm still working on my manners and impulse control, I'd like to meet any resident dogs before I officially join the family to make sure we'll be a good match. I hope to be the classiest lady so training is a must! I promise to be the sweetest girl you will ever meet! For more information, just ask Customer Service about Luna ID# A956194.   Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by.
