Story
Meet our resilient girl, Onyx. Onyx has overcome a difficult past and is now ready to find a loving forever home. She came to in poor physical health and was very nervous about the world around her. Everything was new to her, from trusting humans, to eating and drinking from proper food bowls, to going out on walks, to even just playing as any dog should. Despite these hardships, Onyx has shown incredible strength and a desire to trust and bond with people. Our sweet girl is a gentle soul with a loving heart. While she may initially be shy or hesitant, her affectionate nature shines through once she feels safe. Onyx enjoys gentle interactions and is loving being able to discover the new world around her on walks and continual interactions with our amazing volunteers! Onyx needs someone who understands that building trust takes time. Consistent, positive reinforcement will help her gain confidence. The understanding that gradual exposure to new people and environments is essential. We have been working with Onyx at the shelter to help her with her potty-training. She has made such great progress, and we are very proud of how well she has done. Having access to a yard would be lovely for her and would assist to continue training.Onyx would thrive in a quiet household, possibly with older children who can respect her space and help her learn how to play. Onyx should go to a home with breed experience- she would not be a great fit for a new dog guardian.
