Story
Sweet Foxy is high energy due to being young and her breed. Potential adopters that are familiar with this breed are preferred and will be considered first. She is around 3 years old and very sweet and has loved to meet all the new people at the shelter. She is protective over the home and is a bit standoffish with new people and will bark at first. This is a common trait with this breed and can be managed with someone who understands the breed and can help her with training, and give her the appropriate stimulation everyday, and doing slow introductions with new people and situations. She needs a home with older children as she thinks she is a lap dog and when she is over stimulated she doesn't realize her own strength, likes to jump, and can be a bit mouthy. She is crate trained and potty trained. She needs a home with no cats. She does not like small dogs and is VERY dog selective, and would do best in a home with no other dogs and an experienced owner who will take the time to get to know her before introducing her to other dogs. She does know some basic commands but will benefit from daily training on manners, walking on leash, introductions to new people, etc., as she is very smart and ready to be appropriately stimulated. An active family that likes to hikes and keep her active daily is the best fit for her. She loves to play in the water and is ok being bathed, and LOVES being in the car. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.Interested in adopting? Story
Meet Channing! Channing is a vibrant and playful pup just over 4 years old, looking for a loving forever home. Adopted from our rescue four years ago, Channing has grown into an energetic companion who loves to play catch and run around the yard. He would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where he can enjoy plenty of playtime and outdoor adventures. Channing is the perfect match for a family that enjoys an active lifestyle and can provide him with regular exercise. We were told he loves other dogs; however, since he has been in the kennel environment, he does not appear to be dog friendly. He is kid friendly though. He would love the company of older children to play with. When he's not running around, Channing is incredibly affectionate and will let you know when he wants some love and attention. He's also a pro at cozying up at the end of the bed or next to you on the couch while you watch TV or read a book. Channing is house-trained, responds well to basic commands like sit and stay, and is up to date on his vaccinations. He's also neutered and ready to be your loyal companion. With his loving personality and zest for life, Channing is a wonderful dog with so much love to give. If you're looking for an energetic, affectionate, and playful dog to join your family, Channing might just be the perfect fit! Complete our online application at animalfriendsva.org and we'll arrange a meet and greet to see if he's the one you've been looking for.

Story
Balu and Brissa were dumped at the rescue gate when they were puppies. A common occurrence in South Texas. People who no longer want to care for their animals, dump the responsibility onto rescues. Balu and Brissa have grown up in rescue and have never known what it is like to live in a home with a family. They are sweet, friendly and loving dogs who have never been given the chance to experience what a home or family is like. Both dogs have been altered and are heartworm negative. If you want to change the lives of any dog, Balu or Brissa are the way to go! This is a courtesy post. Any applicant reviewed by the partner rescue will have the application fee refunded. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 31, 2025, 9:56 pm

If so, Akiro might be the perfect addition to your family. Akiro is a sweet, shy boy who has faced more than his share of challenges. This gentle soul needs a special kind of adopter—someone who can provide the time and care required to help him overcome his fears and become the confident, loving companion he’s meant to be. Akiro will thrive best with someone experienced in handling anxious dogs. He needs a patient and understanding approach as he builds trust at his own pace. A calm and steady home environment will help him feel secure, and a predictable routine will make him more comfortable and confident. Positive reinforcement training is crucial for helping Akiro work through his fears. With gentle guidance, he can learn to approach new experiences with greater ease. Building trust with Akiro is a gradual process, so a dedicated owner who is committed to spending quality time with him and introducing him to new things slowly is essential. Once Akiro feels safe, he will reveal his deep affection and loyalty. His gentle nature will shine through as he begins to trust you. He enjoys quiet moments and will thrive in a serene home environment where he can relax and feel at ease. Important Note: Commitment Required Due to Akiro’s sensitive nature and the dedication needed for his development, we are not accepting returns for him. Akiro’s progress is delicate, and it’s essential that he finds a stable, committed home where he can continue his journey without interruption. Akiro needs an owner who is ready to invest in his training and socialization. Moving between homes can disrupt his progress, lead to separation anxiety, and hinder his development. If you’re prepared to offer Akiro a stable and loving environment and are committed to his ongoing growth, we invite you to consider adopting him. Your dedication will play a crucial role in helping Akiro become the confident and happy companion he’s meant to be. __________________________________If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application.Apply to adopt at: www.nerdypaws.org Nerdy Paws Animal Rescue is a foster based rescue in Springfield, VA. We do not have a shelter, all of our animals are in foster homes. We require all potential adopters to fill out an application before setting up a meeting with the animal and their foster family. Story
Fenway (about 2.5 yrs old) is an energetic, outdoorsy dog who loves fetch and thrives on adventure. He knows basic commands, is house-trained, and is a sweetheart at home. While he’s making progress, Fenway is still working on his manners in new environments and does best as the only pet in the home as he continues to improve with reactivity toward other dogs and cats. Fenway has been a beloved part of our family, but due to a recent passing, we can no longer provide him with the time and attention he deserves. He would thrive with an owner who can offer structure and training to help him grow into his best self. He is also AKC registered. If you’re ready for a loyal, playful companion, Fenway is ready to meet you! *Our priority is finding Fenway the loving home he deserves, and we’re happy to assist with vet or training costs to ensure he thrives with his new family.*
