Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. DeeDee and her sister DOLLY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 24th September.  We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. DeeDee is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of September 2023 and on 22 September weighed 50 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. The shelter noted the following on 2 September about both girls who were taken to the play group individually: Not feeling quite confident on the leash yet, was carried to the yard. She wasn't feeling confident enough to join in with the others at this time. She was standoffish and could feel overwhelmed at times.   Kennel visit - 5 September Stayed on bed and was licking my hands but when I went to pet her she kept flinching and moving her head. Got off the bed and continued to lick hands but still flinched when tried to pet her. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks.  She does need an active family who will ensure she gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that she needs to live a happy fulfilling life. DeeDee is available for an adoption fee of $300 Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. Story
Meet Kassie. Kassie is a six month old Belgian Malinois mix. She is smart.  She knows sit, down, shake, and roll over.  She is extremely food motivated and will learn new things quickly with correct training.  She likes to walk and play with her ball. She will bond with her person, but she will need time to adjust to you. Kassie will need someone who knows the breed, has time to spend with her, and is committed to training her properly. While she can be ok with other dogs, she is reactive to some, so a meet and greet would be important. She is ok with my large male who will correct any bad puppy behavior. She sleeps through the night in a crate and is ok in there during the day when I am at work. She is 90% housebroken and can keep a dry crate for hours. She is not going to be a family dog. She would be best in a quiet/calm home one or two adults and with no children and no cats. She is protective of her food and herself and will need help working on those behaviors. I truly believe that she has the potential to be a great dog/companion for the right person who has the skills and time to work with her. If you are interested in Kassie, please contact Logan’s and I would be happy to talk more with you.  Kassie is now spayed, up to date with vaccines for her age and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $100.00. If you are interested in adopting Kassie, please visit our website www.lharinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application today. Story
hi Thomas, this stunning guy is a 1 year old Belgian Shepherd. He found himself in trouble when his owner surrendered him to a local animal control shelter. Thankfully. we were able to step in and help him. The previous owner for Thomas claims that he has lived with kids but he was too big for them so he brought him to a shelter. In the shelter, Thomas was very stressed and nervous, not surprising, so he was difficult to handle. Thankfully, our resident Mal expert Bruno was able to make a trip to the shelter to assess him. After taking him out of the kennel, he had no trouble handling him so he brought him to the rescue. Thomas is the world's worst mal - so much so, Bruno is embarrassed for him. While high energy, he has zero drive. He had no interest in regular toys, bite toys. Thomas is relying purely on his absolutely stunning, wolf-like looks. He wants to be the trophy pet that will get the enjoyed the good, spoiled, active life. Having said all that, he is looking for an adult only home that is experienced with the breed. While he has lived with kids before, due to the fearful and anxious behavior he has showed in the shelter both at ACCT and our rescue, he will not be placed with children. He will make a great pet for the right person who is looking for a non-working mal. He would need to meet any resident dogs. He will come neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested. If you are serious about adoption, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com His adoption fee is $300. Story
hi Njord! This handsome boy is an aprox. 2 1/2 old Belgian Shepherd. He and his friend Skadi came to us through our friends in Baltimore. They came as strays so we do not know much about them before their life with us. What a silly boy! Njord is a smart, athletic dog that is looking for a breed experienced home. He and Skadi have been playing with us in the play-yards and running around checking out all the toys and new smells. Njord really gets along with Skadi an would love to be adopted with her but can also be adopted separately. He would really enjoy another dog in home to play with. He will come neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and 4dx tested. **If you are serious about adoption, please check out the FAQ's on our adoption page and then fill out the adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com His adoption fee is $350*
