Story
Meet Kassie. She came to us with several siblings from a backyard breeder as part of an unwanted litter of pups. Kassie date of birth is 5/24/2024 and she is mostly a Belgin Malinois mix, there was also a Belgian Tervuren running loose on the property so that may explain her longer hair.  Kassie is extremely smart.  She can sit, shake, lay down, and is working on roll over.  She is 95% potty trained.  She only has accidents when she is out in the living room and no one sees her sit at the gate to go out.  With a little more time an attention, she will be fully potty trained.  She goes in her crate with minimal issue.  She whines quietly sometimes.  She sleeps through the night (10:30-6:00) without accidents.  Kassie walks fine on a leash and loves to sniff and explore.  Kassie will bond with one person very quickly, so a household with only one or two people would be best.  She absolutly needs an owner who will be active with her (hiking, running, camping) and is willing to put the time in to train her.  She is ok with kids, but a home without them would be best.  She barks at new people or when people come in the house.  We are working on that.  No cats or small dogs for Kassie.  She seems ok for now with her foster dog brother and dog sister, but they are both 100 pounds.  She will likely want to be the alpha dog.  She will absolutly need to go to an owner with experience with the breed.  In the right home, she will be an amazing companion. Kassie is now spayed, up to date with vaccines for her age and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $450.00. If you are interested in adopting Kassie, please visit our website www.lharinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application today. Story
Meet Kia. Kia came to us from a backyard breeder. We were told she is about 2 years old and she does weigh about 56 lbs. Kia is mostly if not all Belgian Malinois. She had never lived in a house until she came to us. Kia has learned a lot like how to walk on a leash and she is starting to play with toys. She is friendly and likes to be pet but is scared of sudden movements and loud noises. Kia learns new things every day and gets better every day in her foster home. She is going to need a home that has a lot of time for training and patience. She is not an aggressive dog, but will nip if something scares her. Because of this we are not recommending a home for her with children. However, she was around kids outside where she came from. Kia has a lot of potential to be a great canine citizen with the right handler. She will do best with lots of exercise and mental stimulation. Kia is crate trained but still working on housebreaking. She is may be younger then 2 years since she does chew on things and loves to play with toys. Kia is now spayed, up to date with vaccines and microchipped. She tested negative for heartworm and has been started on monthly heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250.00. If you are interested in adopting  Kia, please visit our website www.lharinc.org go to Adopt and complete the dog adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. DeeDee and her sister DOLLY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 24th September.  We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. DeeDee is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of September 2023 and on 22 September weighed 50 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. The shelter noted the following on 2 September about both girls who were taken to the play group individually: Not feeling quite confident on the leash yet, was carried to the yard. She wasn't feeling confident enough to join in with the others at this time. She was standoffish and could feel overwhelmed at times.   Kennel visit - 5 September Stayed on bed and was licking my hands but when I went to pet her she kept flinching and moving her head. Got off the bed and continued to lick hands but still flinched when tried to pet her. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks.  She does need an active family who will ensure she gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that she needs to live a happy fulfilling life. DeeDee is available for an adoption fee of $550 or if adopted with her sister DOLLY the adoption fee is $1,000 for both girls. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. Story
Hey there! I'm Brutus, a spirited Belgian Malinois on the lookout for my forever family. I ended up in the shelter through no fault of my own, and I'm ready for a fresh start with someone who understands my breed. I'm an active guy who thrives in an experienced, adult-only home. I need someone who can devote time to training and keeping up with my energetic nature. Whether it's chasing tennis balls, going for long walks, or hiking adventures, I'm always up for fun! It's important to note that I have a high prey drive, so I'll need a home without cats or small animals. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will keep you on your toes and share plenty of adventures, I'm your guy! Let's make some amazing memories together! Story
Ruger is a well-tempered, 2 1/2 year old, pure bred, long-haired, Western German Shepherd. He is from a good bloodline. His ears are down because he and his brother Alex rough-housed too much as puppies. He has a microchip and makes a good pet.
