Story
Duke is a wonderful wonderful dog. He seriously is my best friend and it breaks my heart to have to be doing this. Unfortunately, my landlord has decided that since he barks when I am not home that I can no longer have him. Duke is about three years old and is trained in many commands. For example; Sit, down, stay, wait, shake, etc. He will make a welcome addition to your home and would be best suited for a female adopter or a male adopter willing to work with him. You must have a decent amount of land OR be willing to walk him daily. We can talk more about his story if you think you might want to give him a try!

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.12/14/24 STILL AVAILABLE 10/21 Zora, Maud, Klaus, Lars,  Edda, and Petra were born to a stray dog who has been staying in the same area for several years. This is her 4th litter. People in the neighborhood feed her, but no one can seem to catch her to have her spayed. We didn't find out about this situation until last week, when we were contacted by an 86 year old lady who is the one taking care of these pups. The mama dog brought these pups up to her house when they were only a few weeks old, and Ms. Fontaine has been trying to find a rescue to help with them since then. Unfortunately, all rescues in our area are overwhelmed and no one was able to help her. I went over to meet and vaccinate the pups last week. They are 5 months old. They are very scared and timid. Ms. Fontaine is able to pet all of them and even allows them in her house. They love her, and she loves them, but we are all afraid with her age, these pups are creating a fall risk for her. They do not jump on her, but wec are worried about her tripping over them. We would love to move them to other rescues if anyone knows a rescue who could take 1 or 2. They are also available for adoption, but adopters will need to be aware that they will definitely be a project. They will take a long time to gain confidence and build trust. They are NOT aggressive at all. I was able to give them all shots with not even a growl from any of them. They just hide and tremble. I do believe they have potential to be good pets, but it is going to require a lot of patience and work.  If anyone is interested in giving one of these pups a  let us know. We are working on getting them all fixed so they wont continue adding to the population. We will also continue efforts to trap the mama dog so we can stop the steady flow of pups.  We are all so overwhelmed. And it is next to impossible to find homes for dogs like these. Spayed/neutered UTD on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and started on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.  Please consider giving one of these babies a good home. They will be so loyal and loving. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ubba is ready for his forever home! ODAAT was contacted about a found dog stray, after research we were able to determine that the dog had recently been given away. This dog has been through it and deserves a committed family. He was born approx May 2020 and he is a GSD. He is very active and would love an active family. He loves toys, running and playing. He is great with kids! Because of his activity level we would prefer older children, 10+. He does great with other dogs and a home with someone to play with would be perfect for him. We would advise no cats as he does have a prey drive. He is extremely intelligent and eager to please. He is potty trained, up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. If you would like to welcome Ubba into your family, please apply at www.onedogatatime.us When applying to adopt through ODAAT, please know that we take pride in placing our animals appropriately based on their needs and personality.
