Story
Hi there. My name is Symphony and here is a little info about me: Height: 43 cm Size: Large RESCUE STORY The time we saw Symphony we knew that she was another victim of abandonment. It is not unusual for a dog taken as a puppy to be abandoned when it grows up. She was running from one side to the other in heavy traffic. If she wouldn’t die from starving, she was going to die from a car accident for sure. So we took her to the vet to see if she had a family who was looking for their dog. But we could not find a microchip on her. So our journey with Symphony started. Character Symphony is very social and just looooves human attention. He greets everyone who comes to her section in the shelter with enthusiastic jumps and little happy circles. Outside she is curious, but pays attention to the human. Also is happy to stop for a play with a toy or some cuddles. She is always ready to show her belly with a single touch. Besides her cheerful character, she turns out to be really smart. Symphony would fit best with an active family. She can live with other friendly dogs. We don’t know how she is around cats but due to her curiosity and eagerness to play, you should be ready for training if you have a cat(s). She probably would love to live with children if her enthusiastic character is taken into consideration. Energy Level: Active Prey drive: None observed Fears: None observed Training: She knows how to walk with a leash but still needs training. Health notes: No health issues.

Story
Please meet Sesame!!Sesame is an approximately 4-5 month old, female spayed, Belgian Malinois mix.She came into the shelter a couple of weeks ago and now she is ready for her home. She has been vaccinated, sterlized and microchipped since being with us here at the shelter.Belgian Malinois are a herding breed of dog and do best when they have lots of work to do. They are highly intelligent, alert, sensitive and highly trainable. They have a strong guarding instinct making them protective of their family and property. She seems to have a pretty easy going temperment, but as a puppy we would highly recommend that her new owners take her for some puppy obedience classes. If you are interested in adopting Sesame, please give us a call between the hours of 10:30am-6:30pm, at 416-338-7297 (PAWS) at the North Shelter, and we would be happy give you more information and explain the current adoption process. Thanks so much for looking.

Story
Welcome to the world of Jerry, a Belgian Malinois who`s stealing hearts and turning heads wherever he goes! At just one year old, Jerry is already making a name for himself as a bundle of boundless energy and enthusiasm. From the moment he bounds into a room, it`s clear that Jerry is no ordinary pup. With his beautiful coat and cute face, he`s the picture of agility and athleticism. But don`t let his stunning appearance fool you—this pup`s true charm lies in his playful personality and liveliness. Jerry is a huge fan of play time. He`s always up for a game of fetch or a romp in the yard. Whether he`s chasing after his favorite toys or splashing around in the pool, there`s never a dull moment when Jerry is around. To add, he’s also a dedicated pup eager to learn and grow. His high energy levels and sharp intellect lead him to thrive on mental stimulation and training challenges. From mastering new tricks to honing his obedience skills, Jerry is always eager to impress and please. As Jerry continues to grow and explore the world around him, he`s looking for a loving family who shares his passion for adventure and his commitment to training. With the right guidance and plenty of love, there`s no telling what this remarkable pup can achieve. If you are interested in more information on this amazing boy, please call the North Region shelter at 416-338-PAWS (7297). We are open from 10:30AM to 6:30PM daily.

Story
Quick Facts Name: Gongtan Age: 1 year old Gender: Male Neutered: Yes Breed: Malinois mix Colour: Black (99%)/white (1%) Weight: 23kg Me and Humans Ain't no German Shepherd, ain't no Jindo. I am Gongtan, one year old Malinois mix boy, weighing 23kg. I am covered with 99% sleek black coat. I am an energetic and social boy, always welcoming hoomans and furry friends. Whether they are strangers or my friends, I politely greet everybody and allow them to rub and pet my back. Holding me under by belly is also possible. Not just grown ups, but I get along very well with kids under 13 years old. They are soooo fun to play with! But I know I should not jump on strangers, seniors, kids, or hoomans that fear me. Instead, if hoomans want to give me a hug, I will gently rely myself on them. It is going to feel like I am melting on you! With Dogs and Cats Just like my hooman friends, I also approach to my furry friends because I want to play with them. Some furry friends not necessarily want to play with me and if that is the case, I do not bother them. Personal space matters!!! I consider cats as my friends too. I have lived with a cat named Rectol for months and we were very good friends! Just like how I would hang around with my own kind, when Rectol did not feel like playing with me, I did not bother him at all. Sometimes when Rectol punched my face (whether it was an accident or not...?), I did not take it personally because he was my friend haha. We always slept in the same bed and had no issue at all. During walks, I have seen other cats and of course I took a quick glance, but I did not go crazy or anything. Energy & Activities & Walks In terms of my energy level, I am very active! It must be my Malinois gene where I need to do a lot of outdoor adventures to stay calm at home. I usually visit doggie gym twice a week where I can run freely all day and often visit dog cafes to meet new friends. As long as I get my daily exercise, I can stay calm but if not, I might bite things like plushies, electrical plugs, papers, etc. So, in case you cannot take me outside, just remember to provide me with toys that I can play and bite. Did you know that I love walking ? I might pull on the leash a bit, but I will be under your control and guidance! I have experience walking with several volunteers and strangers and I got a lot of compliments! My current foster pawrent unfortunately had a car accident not too long ago and is unable to walk or guide my other friends, but I have no problem with my pawrent as I know how to control myself under circumstances. Car Rides & Crate Since I was a very little puppy, I was crate-trained but I cannot exactly tell you if I am still good inside crates because I eventually got too big and had no chance to get inside one for a long time. I will probably need to get tested again but I was good before! Cars? Oh man... I used to throw up before during my car ride (especially when I ate before the ride) but it has gone much better. I can now eat during my car ride and know how to get inside the car by myself. Guarding & Potty Break & Barking I usually do not guard my food against my hoomans but sometimes my furry friends try to eat my food while I am eating. In this case, I would bark once to back off. I normally do not bark but I might bark when there is a stranger approaching my home (my pawrent called him a delivery man. I have no idea what that means.. but they always came, left boxes, and left right away without saying hi to me!!!!). Although I can do my business inside and outside, I prefer to do it outside . For some reason I do not feel very comfortable doing my business while I am on the leash (do not ask me why because I have no idea why either) but I can easily do it while I am running or walking freely without my leash. Although I am a boy, I do not lift my leg while I pee and of course, I never mark around. Did you know that I sometimes experience indigestion when I am exposed to a new environment or to new food/treats? You will have an idea when my stool seems to be a bit liquidy. If this ever happens, there is no need to worry about it. Just give me some probiotics as it could help. Last Message I am currently living with my foster pawrent, as well as four (4) other furry friends and one (1) cat. I get along with everyone very well and have no issue at all. My pawrent usually put my kibbles in my bowl and I eat whenever I feel like eating. I love tug-of-war, and playing with plushies and balls, but I love my hoomans WAY MORE! I am a very smart boy who can live in both cities and villages. When hoomans recall, I know I must go back to them. My ideal forever home would be a place where I could actively play with my pawrents. If there is another energetic furry friend already, that would be pawsome!!! If you are looking for a clever furry companion that could actively go on hiking and lots of outdoor adventures, I will be the perfect one for you! Contact my team for more information!!!! Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Hello! I'm Sugar! I'm a 3-year-old male Malinois mix with a sleek black coat. Weighing in at 35 kg, I'm a big, cool, and smart pup looking for my forever home! My Story: I was rescued from a kill shelter just in time, and now I'm ready to find a loving family. I stayed in a foster home for a year, where I was friendly and had a good relationship with my foster mom. My Personality: I'm quite shy around strangers, but give me 3 days to a week, and I'll become friendly. I like to greet other dogs, but I don't always play with them. I'm generally friendly towards dogs my size or smaller. I haven't met any cats yet, so I'm not sure how I'd react. I enjoy outdoor activities but also love to rest quietly afterward. have plenty of walking experience and follow people well without pulling on the leash. I don't guard my food against people or other dogs. I'm a quiet boy and hardly ever bark. I'm calm when put in a kennel. I generally only do my business outside. Important to Know: It takes time for me to build a relationship with strangers, usually 1 to 2 weeks. I'm not food-motivated and don't take snacks from strangers. I might seem unmannered or too aggressive with other dogs because I think I'm a small dog and try to play with them. Other dogs might be intimidated by my behavior because of my size. Fun Fact: I'm very cool and smart, showing all the characteristics of a Malinois. If you're looking for a sweet, smart, and affectionate companion, I'm your guy! Let's make some wonderful memories together. Love, Sugar ##2260948##

Story
Danny, a 16 month old gentle giant with a loving heart, awaits a forever home that understands his delicate nature. In his past, trauma has left scars, but with the right environment, he can blossom into the affectionate companion he longs to be. A quiet home with a single female owner working from home, would provide Danny with the stability and comfort he needs. His present foster environment has an adult male and female. Danny is always connected to the female but bounces back and forth with the male. One day he is terrified and runs to his crate whenever the male arrives, and the next day he is licking his face and wanting scratches and loving. He is unsure of smaller humans and would be best suited in a home without children under 10-12 years old. Danny's emotional intelligence is extraordinary. He is incredibly perceptive of human emotions and can sense when someone is feeling down or anxious. This empathy makes him an exceptional companion, offering comfort and support through his gentle presence.Danny is well-trained and knows various commands and tricks having completed beginner and intermediate training. He walks well on a leash, listening attentively to his human's instructions. However, his recall is still a work in progress, though he is a quick learner and eager to please.Despite his impressive size, Danny is surprisingly playful and energetic. He loves to run and can spend hours chasing after a ball or engaging in friendly games with his foster brother. However, he is still unsure about his dog beds, having gone through several before finding a few that he feels comfortable with.Danny's love for toys is undeniable, but his black Kong is his absolute favorite. It's the only toy that can withstand his chewing prowess. While he can be cautious and nervous around men, Danny is gradually socializing well with his neighbors and friends. He is believed to be a mix of Shepherd and either Boxer or Belgian Malinois (based on his colouring), a combination that results in a large and loving dog.Danny's safe spot is his crate, and he needs unrestricted access to it at all times. He enjoys car rides, couches and beds but we are unsure if he was ever allowed on them in the past. His passive and chill demeanor makes him a delightful companion, but patience is essential as he gets to know his new surroundings and people. In the past, Danny struggled with anxiety peeing and separation anxiety. He was successful in breaking out of standard wire crates (through brute force). Once he got an escape proof crate, he seemed to have given up on his escape attempts and is quite content hanging out in his safe space While he has made significant progress, there may be days when he reverts to these behaviors. It's important to remember that he would thrive best in a larger area with a fenced-in yard and daily walks to provide him with the mental and physical stimulation he needs.Danny is neutered, up-to-date with all his shots, and on a particular supplement that his new family should continue with, as recommended by his veterinarian. He is a big love bug who enjoys fetching shoes and playing with his foster brother, though he is still learning to be mindful of his size around smaller dogs.Danny is a unique old soul who deserves a loving and patient family who will cherish him for the gentle giant he is. With the right environment and care, he will blossom into a loyal and devoted companion, filling their lives with endless love and joy.HIstory: Danny was part of the Dover Dozen, a group of 12 puppies dumped at the side of a road near Port Dover. He unfortunately spent the first 11 months of his life in a shelter. He has been fostered since March of 2024, with his foster brother Dexter (who is also available for adoption). The two of them together provide endless hours of laughter and entertainment and a dual adoption would certainly be an option. Story
"ZORBA" is a German shepherd mix, about 3 years old and weights approx. 30 kg. 3 years ago one of our team members pulled to the side of the road to answer an incoming call from Anastasia calling all the way from Canada. They barely exchanged two sentences when she heard puppy whimpers, came out of the car and bumped into this tiny furry ball that could barely walk. She lovingly picked up the puppy and after securing it in the crate searched long and far for any signs of siblings, but unfortunately found none. She took him to our vet and then to our sanctuary. He's been with us ever since. "ZORBA" is completely healthy, fully vetted and vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. He is also housebroken and leash trained. "ZORBA" is a bit shy when first meeting new people but warms up very quickly. Then he turns into this incredibly syrupy, tender, cuddly, lovable guy. SPFG volunteers call him "BACLAVA" because he has so much sugar and syrup!!! He is the kind of dog that will restore your energy and cheerfulness for the day. He is also social and playful with other animals. He would make an excellent companion for any family. If interested in adopting our affectionate "ZORBA" please visit our website to fill out an application at : www.straypawsfromgreece.com
