Penny is approximately a two year-old German Shepherd and/or Belgian Malinois mix who had a hard start at life, fending for herself as a stray. She has transitioned to an indoor dog perfectly. She is house trained and crate trained, and has discovered the joy of sleeping in bed. She is a normal/medium energy level right now. This may increase as she gains some weight and resumes a normal body condition. Although she appears to be a working breed cross, she currently doesn't show any drives and would thrive in just an active pet home. Penny listens very well, is very smart and a very quick learner! She did not get to enjoy puppyhood to the fullest, so she still has some puppy tendencies like jumping when excited that should be expected. Penny is currently living with 6 other dogs ranging from 7-45lbs and is very dog friendly! From there, potential adopters are put in touch with the foster parent(s) of the dog they are interested in adopting. If a specific dog is not in mind, admins will make suggestions based on who we feel will be good candidates for their home. We take the foster's opinions into high consideration when determining ideal fit for an adoption. Once the dog is determined to be a good fit for the adoptive home, the adopter is given advisement on decompression, training, safety gear, and future preventative vetting. Meet Mama Carol! This 2 year old Mama and her 6 puppies were sitting in the shelter so we stepped in and saved the whole family. All of her puppies have been adopted but this sweet girl is still looking for a family of her own! Carol would do best with an experienced dog owner since she is a Malinois mix. She needs a good amount of mental and physical stimulation so if you’re looking for an activity buddy, Carol is your girl. Carol is very treat motivated and is an extremely smart dog so she’s been doing great with training in her foster home. She is crate and house trained and her leash training gets better and better everyday. Carol has done great with dogs she has met, including her two foster siblings but her play style could be a bit rough for some dogs since she does like to herd. She would probably do best with no cats due to her prey drive. This energetic girl is happy playing fetch in the yard but also enjoys chewing on a good bone. While she can be wary with strangers at first, the best thing about her is how loving and affectionate she is! She can’t resist a good belly rub session and she will show her appreciation by licking you to death with kisses. Let’s find this girl the loving home she wants and deserves!

Can be adopted together, but are fine to be separated. Would make a great running buddy! Such an affectionate boy. Most happy to be outside and playing fetch/ chewing on bones while being with his people. Fully potty trained and crate trained. Toys and food should be separate from other dogs!
