Story
Hello, potential forever family! My name is Pilgrim, but my foster mama calls me Grim. She says it suits me because I’m a strong Shepherd boy, but honestly, there’s nothing "grim" about me—I’m all heart! Call me whatever you like, as long as you’re ready to shower me with love and attention. That’s the way straight to my heart. Here’s a little about me: I’m a 1-year-old Shepherd mix, weighing in at 50 lbs. I’m the perfect size—no more growing, but I may fill out a bit more as I settle in with regular meals and care.I was rescued from a local shelter, and after a short stay there, my foster mama decided to bring me into her home to be a buddy for her playful Shepherd pup. She says I’m the “perfect boy”—I’m social, love to play with other dogs, but also know how to wind down and enjoy a good nap after a fun session. When my foster brother gets a little too rowdy, I’ll correct him, but I’m always gentle and don’t go overboard. We get along great! Now, about those cats... Foster mama has a few, and while I’m definitely curious about them, I’ve learned to respect their space. If I get too nosy or playful, they let me know, and I back off. I’m learning the ropes!I’m also living with kids, ages 7-12, and they are such a blast! I love snuggling with them and joining in their playtime. Nothing makes me happier than a good game or a belly rub from the kiddos—I can’t help but smile the biggest puppy grin. One thing’s for sure, though: my forever home must have either another playful dog or some active kids to keep me busy. I’ve got plenty of energy (typical Shepherd!), and I need a good outlet to keep me happy and out of trouble. As for house manners, I’m doing great! Since coming to my foster home, I haven’t had a single accident. I go outside regularly and have plenty of chances to do my business. I’m also crate trained—at night, I sleep in my crate without any fuss. I might bark if I’m feeling impatient, like if I’m waiting too long to go out in the morning, but I settle down quickly. My foster mom says I’m a dream on a leash. I don’t pull much and usually walk so closely to you that I might accidentally end up under your feet—whoops! If you’re looking for a fun, playful boy who knows when to relax and cuddle, then I’m your guy! Don’t wait—submit an application today, and let’s make some memories together!***Please Note: All the available dogs listed on our website are getting spoiled in private foster homes. If someone has caught your eye and you wish to arrange a meet and greet, we do need you to fill out the adoption application. When your adoption application is received our screening team will verify the information given. Once your application has been confirmed and approved, we will be send it over to the foster parent for review to determine if your home is a good match for the dog. In the event one lucky dog receives multiple applications, please know we do not select based on a first come basis. We try our best to select the best-fit for our animals and families. ***
