Meet Max Your Smart Best Friend Hi, I’m Max. I’ve got a big brain, a big heart, and a whole lot of love to give. I’m a smart boy who’s already learning my commands and doing really well with leash training. I enjoy figuring things out and making my people proud. If you’re someone who likes an engaged, eager-to-learn companion, I think we’ll get along perfectly. I’ve got a fun, energetic side, but my favorite place to be is right next to you. I love being close to my people and I’m known for giving the sweetest hugs. If you need a little extra love in your day, I’m more than happy to provide it. I’d do best in a home that can match my energy, continue my training, and give me lots of attention and affection. In return, I’ll be your loyal sidekick, your workout buddy, and your built-in cuddle provider. If I have a committed adopter or foster, I can be transported on April 16th to the Shelter Pet Adoption Center inside Petco in Huntersville, NC (10017 Biddick Lane, Huntersville, NC 28078). Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you area not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Sarge is a neutered 2 year old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix currently being fostered in Denver, CO. Sarge is an outgoing, playful, and affectionate boy with a big personality and an even bigger love for fun. He is smart, curious, and full of energy, and he thrives when he has opportunities to play, explore, and be active with his people. Sarge loves other dogs and is always eager to make friends. He will happily nudge a dog to invite them to play and enjoys running and tug of war, especially with dogs his size or larger. While he gets excited and may pull toward dogs on leash, he is not aggressive and does well with slow, proper introductions. He is great at picking up on cues and will back off when another dog is done playing. Sarge has a moderate to high energy level and would do best in an active home. He would love daily walks, hikes, playtime, and mental stimulation. A fenced yard would be a big bonus, but he could also thrive with a family committed to keeping him exercised. He would do well with or without another dog in the home. On leash, Sarge could use some continued training. He is strong and tends to pull, but he responds well to guidance and does great with a gentle leader. He is fully house trained and crate trained, sleeping in his crate overnight and when his people are out. He can also be trusted with free roam, as he is not destructive. Sarge is a total lovebug with people. He is very cuddly, affectionate, and happy to greet new friends, though he may jump a bit when excited. He loves toys and proudly hoards them, lining them up one by one like treasured possessions. One of his cutest habits is doing a full somersault onto his dog bed after running inside. Sarge would be an amazing match for an active person or family looking for an adventure buddy. Older kids or dog savvy children would be best since he can be jumpy when excited. With continued leash training, plenty of toys, and lots of outdoor time, Sarge will be a loyal, joyful companion. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Size: 55lbs, she should be about 60-65lbs Training: crate and leash trained, she is doing well with house training. She is very loyal and eager to please. Good with dogs/cats? Yes to dogs, no to cats. Good with men/women/kids? Yes, she loves everyone she meets. Personality: friendly, affectionate, playful, and eager to please. She is very loyal. She loves treats, toys, and especially tennis balls. Reason for rescue: Lovey was picked up as a stray while pregnant. She had her pups and they are all adopted/pending adoption. Now, it is her turn to find her forever family. She is scheduled to be spayed. She is microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on vaccinations and preventatives. Lucia, a sweet 2-year-old Belgian Malinois mix, is so ready to be done with motherhood and move on to her new life! She's been a wonderful mama to her sweet pups, and now it's her turn to be the baby of the home. She gets along with other dogs, ok with cats and sweet with everyone she meets. This breed is very smart, headstrong and athletic-- and they can be challenging! Lucia will be happiest in an active home with people who will put time into training, exercise and mental enrichment. Lucia would be great at dog sports! Lucia is vaccinated and will be spayed and microchipped prior to adoption. Scooter is a very sweet boy, good with children and cats. He does not react to deer, golf carts, walkers, bikers, or small dogs when out walking, but does show reactivity with large dogs by barking and pulling. In the home, he is so lovely, calm, and friendly. He is a very laid back and relaxed dog. He is extremely responsive with treats on walks and his reactivity is easily managed with the use of food rewards. He still needs a bit of distance from larger dogs (20-30 feet) to be able to stay calm, but has done really well when this strategy is used. He has worked with a trainer and would benefit continuation to build social confidence. Scooter becomes very attached to his family. He loves with his whole heart! He has done fine with little dogs.
