Story
🐶 Quick Facts 🐾 • Name: Gongtan • Age: 1 year old • Gender: Male • Neutered: Yes • Breed: Malinois mix • Colour: Black (99%)/white (1%) • Weight: 23kg 🐕 Me and Humans👨🏻 Ain't no German Shepherd, ain't no Jindo. I am Gongtan, one year old Malinois mix boy, weighing 23kg. I am covered with 99% sleek black coat. I am an energetic and social boy, always welcoming hoomans and furry friends. Whether they are strangers or my friends, I politely greet everybody and allow them to rub and pet my back. Holding me under by belly is also possible. Not just grown ups, but I get along very well with kids under 13 years 👶🏻 old. They are soooo fun to play with! But I know I should not jump on strangers, seniors, kids, or hoomans that fear me. Instead, if hoomans want to give me a hug, I will gently rely myself on them. It is going to feel like I am melting on you! 🐕With Dogs and Cats🐕 Just like my hooman friends, I also approach to my furry friends because I want to play with them. Some furry friends not necessarily want to play with me and if that is the case, I do not bother them. Personal space matters!!! I consider cats🐱 as my friends too. I have lived with a cat named Rectol for months and we were very good friends! Just like how I would hang around with my own kind, when Rectol did not feel like playing with me, I did not bother him at all. Sometimes when Rectol punched my face 😾 (whether it was an accident or not...?), I did not take it personally because he was my friend haha. We always slept in the same bed and had no issue at all. During walks, I have seen other cats and of course I took a quick glance, but I did not go crazy or anything. 🔋 Energy & Activities & Walks🚶‍♀️ In terms of my energy level, I am very active! It must be my Malinois gene where I need to do a lot of outdoor adventures to stay calm at home. I usually visit doggie gym twice a week where I can run freely all day and often visit dog cafes to meet new friends. As long as I get my daily exercise, I can stay calm but if not, I might bite things like plushies, electrical plugs, papers, etc. So, in case you cannot take me outside, just remember to provide me with toys that I can play and bite. Did you know that I love walking 🚶‍♀️? I might pull on the leash a bit, but I will be under your control and guidance! I have experience walking with several volunteers and strangers and I got a lot of compliments! My current foster pawrent unfortunately had a car accident not too long ago and is unable to walk or guide my other friends, but I have no problem with my pawrent as I know how to control myself under circumstances. ❤️Car Rides & Crate❤️ Since I was a very little puppy, I was crate-trained but I cannot exactly tell you if I am still good inside crates because I eventually got too big and had no chance to get inside one for a long time. I will probably need to get tested again but I was good before! Cars? 🚙 Oh man... I used to throw up 🤢 before during my car ride (especially when I ate before the ride) but it has gone much better. I can now eat during my car ride and know how to get inside the car by myself. 🚽 Guarding & Potty Break & Barking🐾 I usually do not guard my food against my hoomans but sometimes my furry friends try to eat my food while I am eating. In this case, I would bark once to back off. I normally do not bark but I might bark when there is a stranger approaching my home (my pawrent called him a delivery man. I have no idea what that means.. but they always came, left boxes, and left right away without saying hi to me!!!!). Although I can do my business 💩 inside and outside, I prefer to do it outside 🚽. For some reason I do not feel very comfortable doing my business while I am on the leash (do not ask me why because I have no idea why either) but I can easily do it while I am running or walking freely without my leash. Although I am a boy, I do not lift my leg while I pee 🟨 and of course, I never mark around. Did you know that I sometimes experience indigestion when I am exposed to a new environment or to new food/treats🍪? You will have an idea when my stool seems to be a bit liquidy🌊. If this ever happens, there is no need to worry about it. Just give me some probiotics as it could help. 💌Last Message 💕 I am currently living with my foster pawrent, as well as four (4) other furry friends and one (1) cat. I get along with everyone very well and have no issue at all. My pawrent usually put my kibbles in my bowl and I eat whenever I feel like eating. I love tug-of-war, and playing with plushies and balls, but I love my hoomans WAY MORE! I am a very smart boy who can live in both cities and villages. When hoomans recall, I know I must go back to them. My ideal forever home would be a place where I could actively play with my pawrents. If there is another energetic furry friend already, that would be pawsome!!! If you are looking for a clever furry companion that could actively go on hiking and lots of outdoor adventures, I will be the perfect one for you! Story
Odin is a large breed puppy who at 7 months weighs 70 pounds. He looks like a lab, but is actually the son of a black Belgian Malinois shepherd. He needs a country setting or a big Fenced yard where he can run like crazy. He loves to play fetch and snuggle. He has several months of free veterinary visits left through Petfolk. He barks at other dogs, but then licks them once they're close to him. He loves cats but they don't love him because he is too high energy. He's great with kids, but probably would be tough to have with a small child because he is so big. I'll give you all of his food and supplies, including a crate.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LUCA ~1 year old. Good with dogs and cats. Not good with kids. Companion animal and fenced yard required. GSRA adopts to residents of VA, NC, and SC only. Whoosh! Zoom! Whiz! Is it a bird...a plane...? Nope, it's a Malinois-Husky puppy! Meet Luca, the copper-colored comet who's here to steal your heart. At 14 months old, this Mal-Husky mix might have had a rough start, arriving undernourished and wary of people, but thanks to GSRA he's now getting the nutrition, care, and love that he deserves. While we're helping him gain weight, Luca will always be on the lean side. For now, he needs to be fed separately from other dogs and outside of his crate. Once Luca learns to trust you, he becomes a total lovebug. Since he's still very much a puppy, and part Malinois, he sometimes shows affection with his mouth - but don't worry, obedience training will help him grow into the well-mannered boy we know he can be. As a mix of two intelligent, high-energy breeds, Luca is smart, vocal, and full of life! He's the ultimate lifestyle dog, needing a physically active household with someone who understands the Malinois spirit. Mental and physical exercise is a daily must for him. Luca thrives in the company of other dogs, especially an older dog who can be a playmate and help him learn the ropes. He loves his walks and is working on mastering leash manners - it's still a work in progress. With a fenced yard or open land, he'll be in his element, sprinting around and playing tug, tag, and keep away with his forever brother or sister. Dog parks? Not his thing. But at home, he's a champion playmate and loves a good game of chase! This clever boy is crate trained and settles down nicely when crated while you're out. Luca is also housebroken - he's never had an accident in his foster home. He really craves companionship, so an ideal home would be with someone who works from home, is retired, or spends lots of time at home. Occasionally, the Husky in him will burst out into the song of his people, expressing his feelings in the most melodious way. Luca is truly one of a kind. With patience, affection, and a little guidance, he'll reward you with years of love, loyalty, and endless laughable antics. If you're ready to be his leader and give him the life he deserves, Luca is ready to bring joy, adventure, and a lot of heart into your home.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.For more information on our adoptable pet list please visit: Adoptable Pet List Please join us at our next Event(s): Current Scheduled Events:         November 3, 2024, 8:50 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.BANDIT ~2-3 years old. Good with large dogs and kids 16 or older Not good with cats or small dogs. Adopter needs breed experience and fenced in yard. Residents of NC and SC Click to apply for BANDIT Please Note: This link will take you to Blue Moon Shepherd Rescue.             Meet Bandit a 2-3 year old Belgian Malinois. He is very sweet and gentle. He friendly towards people but takes a minute to warm up. He’s been through quite an ordeal in the last 2 months so that’s understandable. He absolutely loves affection and is a true velcro dog, he will follow you everywhere. Bandit is a true ambassador to his breed, but is not crazy with energy. He loves to run around his yard with his toys and take walks, he walks very well on leash.  But, when it’s time to relax he loves to lay on his bed. Here is Bandit’s story: Several weeks ago, we heard through the local rescue network that there was a dog that had been found, but the finder couldn't keep him. No other rescues were stepping up and the overcrowded shelters nearby said that the dog would be euthanized immediately as an owner surrender. We watched a video of the poor boy and saw what appeared to be a beautiful, but scared sable shepherd." "OK," we said. "We just can't let him die. We'll find room for him." And slowly, the story began to unfold. It seems that the pup (whom we now call “Bandit"), had been part of a "clear out the shelter" program where shelters relax their adoption standards to make room for additional animals. Someone adopted Bandit but he ran away. A kind woman was driving by and saw Bandit lying in a ditch. She stopped, opened her car door and Bandit jumped in, panicked and shaking. Knowing that she just couldn't leave Bandit beside the road again, she took him home, where her own dogs were none too happy to have a new pack mate. Bandit, however, showed no signs of aggression and became attached like velcro to his savior. Knowing she had to do something, the finder took Bandit to her veterinarian, who read the microchip and traced Bandit to the shelter. The shelter then called the adopters, who said they didn't want him. After some pressure from the shelter, the adopters agreed to pick up Bandit. When they arrived, Bandit freaked out, hiding and cowering behind the woman who had saved him. "I'm sorry," the woman said. "You can't have him back. You need to sign him over to me." Unfortunately, she couldn't keep him, and that's where we became involved. We arranged transport and when the van arrived, Bandit pulled out of his collar and began to run around the grounds, beyond terrified by the circumstances he found himself in. I sat down and called him, and Bandit charged toward me, wrapping both of his paws around my arms as if to say "help me!" And then, only then, did I realize that the beautiful sable shepherd I had seen in the video was actually a very handsome Belgian Malinois! If you know shepherds, you understand that a malinois is something else altogether. He has been subjected to horrible abuse and in constant fear of being hit and flinched when we moved our hands too quickly or the leash brushes his skin. He paced constantly when he was out of his crate, and he has scars on his body that attest to a very hard life. We’ve had Bandit for several weeks and he is slowly beginning to come out of his shell. He seems incredibly thoughtful and calm (for a malinois). He's sweet, gentle and kind and gives kisses willingly. He loves and craves affection, and he follows you everywhere.  He's even begun to roll over for belly rubs. But if we push him with a command, he just tenses and waits to be hit. So, at this time, we're not pushing commands. We call him and he will walk with us and follow us everywhere.  He loves being with his people. Bandit loves his crate. It's where he feels safe. As Bandit continues to heal emotionally, we'll be looking for an adopter who has experience with mals, and can balance patience and understanding with the knowledge that mals are highly intelligent and can take advantage of any perceived weakness. While Bandit is tolerant of other dogs, and lives with several German shepherds, he would probably like to be an only pet.  He has a very high prey drive, so no cats or small animals. Bandit still has a way to go, but now his future looks bright. He's a special sensitive dog who deserves a special owner. The one-on-one time he'll give you will be like no other dog. And he'll be your best friend forever.   Bandit is crate trained, neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and on monthly heart worm preventative.  He obeys when he is called and will stay by your side and always be watching you.  Bandit needs an experienced handler that know the Malinois or German shepherd breed.  He is incredibly smart and learns quickly.  He is a very special boy who is sensitive to harsh voice tones.  He needs a gentle but firm hand.  He is not comfortable around loud voices or a lot of commotion.  He needs a quiet home and someone to lay next to and snuggle.  He is incredibly affectionate.  Bandit needs a secure fenced in yard and someone who is home a lot.  He rides great in the car and is always up for an adventure.   Because of Bandit’s high prey drive  he is not recommended with small dogs or cats.   Bandit cannot be off leash when he is not in a secure, fenced in area because he loves to chase. If you think you would be a good home for Bandit or have any questions, contact Donna at BMSR1313@gmail.com or fill out an online application.
