Story
Ash is 3-4 year-old Belgian Malinois mix weighing 65 pounds who is smart as well as loving. She sits nicely whenever the possibility of a treat comes around and also sits and waits for her meals to be served. She has even taught herself to go to the door when she has to go out. Don’t worry, if you’re not around to see it, she’ll give you a verbal warning. Ash is housebroken and kennel trained, although she prefers a treat or two when entering her kennel. Ash is super sweet and affectionate. She is quick to bond with her human and is a master cuddler and leaner. She is very curious and will want to follow you everywhere you go and watch everything you do. She is a bit of a nervous nelly when it comes to meeting new people and, in true Malinois fashion, she tends to be vocal about her fear. She needs a human who will be understanding and patient with her when it comes to introducing visitors and new friends. Dog introductions should be conducted slowly as well. Ash takes a few days to warm up to her new environment but once she does, her personality shines through. She can run all day in the yard with her furry foster siblings or crash just about anywhere when it’s time to wind down. She loves any and all kinds of toys and will throw them around all by herself. She is an awesome puppy that would bring heaps of love and energy to anyone willing to adopt her. After being rescued from a Texas shelter, NorthStar discovered that Ash has a severe congenital deformity that will lead to congestive heart failure. She will need to be monitored closely for any symptoms (exercise intolerance, coughing, shortness of breath). She is currently on medication for her condition and seeking the care of a cardiologist is recommended. Unfortunately, Ash's longevity will be affected and the doctors feel that she will most likely not reach the age of 5 years. When NorthStar rescued Ash, we never expected that she would have such a short life but we are determined to make what time she has left the best we can. Ash is looking for a very special adopter who will love this sweet girl and give her the care she needs for the rest of her life. Ash has been spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines. The adoption fee for this sweet girl is $425. If Ash's story has touched your heart and you would like to give this girl a loving home, please fill out an application at www.northstarpets.org & be sure to ask for ASH TX. November 3, 2024, 7:59 pm

Story
Hey there! I'm Brutus, a spirited Belgian Malinois on the lookout for my forever family. I ended up in the shelter through no fault of my own, and I'm ready for a fresh start with someone who understands my breed. I'm an active guy who thrives in an experienced, adult-only home. I need someone who can devote time to training and keeping up with my energetic nature. Whether it's chasing tennis balls, going for long walks, or hiking adventures, I'm always up for fun! It's important to note that I have a high prey drive, so I'll need a home without cats or small animals. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will keep you on your toes and share plenty of adventures, I'm your guy! Let's make some amazing memories together! Story
My name is Dakota and I have landed in my new foster home in CT! I have already proven a complete charmer at about 44 lbs, 8 to 9 months. I am an overall exuberant, friendly, nice girl. I even frequented a soccer game and was happy to greet all friends human and dog alike; big and small. The world is my oyster! Listen, I could really do great in a lot of homes... but my ideal home would be one that is active, take me on nice long walks, play with me in the yard from time to time and take me on outings and adventures. I don't need a lot but my mind is smart and I am not a wallflower. My people need to be willing to teach me some house manners - I like shoes and counters sometimes; I am a big puppy. I will get it quick with consistency. I am crate-trained and walk well on the leash. I am so excited to get my opportunity for my forever home! https://asecondchanceforziva.org/adopt/adoption-process-application/

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. DeeDee and her sister DOLLY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 24th September.  We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. DeeDee is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of September 2023 and on 22 September weighed 50 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. The shelter noted the following on 2 September about both girls who were taken to the play group individually: Not feeling quite confident on the leash yet, was carried to the yard. She wasn't feeling confident enough to join in with the others at this time. She was standoffish and could feel overwhelmed at times.   Kennel visit - 5 September Stayed on bed and was licking my hands but when I went to pet her she kept flinching and moving her head. Got off the bed and continued to lick hands but still flinched when tried to pet her. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks.  She does need an active family who will ensure she gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that she needs to live a happy fulfilling life. DeeDee is available for an adoption fee of $550 or if adopted with her sister DOLLY the adoption fee is $1,000 for both girls. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. Story
For the last two years Anya has been living in a home with her family that adopted her. Anya is looking for a stable, committed family that will help her heal her broken heart. Anya loved her family and felt that she was home forever. Anya is super loyal to her family & she will become quickly connected to her new family. Anya is an active girl with a shutoff switch! She enjoys being with her people and settles nicely in her crate. She is very sweet. She is living with older dogs and an older cat. Even though Anya can play hard with other dogs, she respects their wishes for space and entertains herself. Anya is super smart and picks up fast; with the right guidance she will become an awesome companion. She walks wonderfully on the leash, on the left in a heal! If you are looking for a really good agility dog, you found her! If you are looking for a jogging/hiking partner, you found her! If you are looking for a dog to lay at your feet on a cold night, you found her(As long as you took her on a very nice long walk first!). This is a fantastic 4-5 year old girl! All our dogs/pups are spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. They have been dewormed and are current on vaccinations. Our adoption fee includes 30 days of complimentary medical insurance for your new pet. Breed and size is frequently a guess and can not be guaranteed. Our dogs are fostered on a private residence, we do not have a free standing shelter. They live on a farm where they run and play with other dogs, cats, horses, and barnyard fowl. Initial contact with us must be made through e-mail. E-mail ARFofMercer@gmail.com directly for an adoption application or with any questions. Once your adoption application is approved, you will be invited to meet our dogs/puppies.
