Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. DeeDee and her sister DOLLY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 24th September.  We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. DeeDee is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of September 2023 and on 22 September weighed 50 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. The shelter noted the following on 2 September about both girls who were taken to the play group individually: Not feeling quite confident on the leash yet, was carried to the yard. She wasn't feeling confident enough to join in with the others at this time. She was standoffish and could feel overwhelmed at times.   Kennel visit - 5 September Stayed on bed and was licking my hands but when I went to pet her she kept flinching and moving her head. Got off the bed and continued to lick hands but still flinched when tried to pet her. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks.  She does need an active family who will ensure she gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that she needs to live a happy fulfilling life. DeeDee is available for an adoption fee of $550 or if adopted with her sister DOLLY the adoption fee is $1,000 for both girls. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: Unknown, likely noGood with kids: Yes, dog-savvy childrenCrate trained: YesHouse trained: YesOtto is a beautiful boy with a sweet, playful spirit! He is a medium energy dog who is hoping for a family who wants to include him in all the fun! He’s happy to attend weeknight soccer practice, movie nights, brewery weekends and all the adventures in between. Otto is currently fostered in a multidog household and loves playing with other dogs. He takes other dogs cues well, and entertains himself with toys when his doggy friends are all done playing. With his playful nature he would likely not be a great fit for cats. He has a larger-than-life personality, loves everyone, and wants everyone to love him back. The word “stranger” isn’t in Otto’s vocabulary as he makes friends everywhere he goes. Otto has done wonderfully meeting children; he sometimes forgets his size, so dog-savvy children would be best for him. He’s super sharp, conquering new skills with lightning speed, he has already mastered sit and is working hard on his recall. Otto is fully house and crate trained. He sleeps soundly in his crate overnight and can be crated throughout the day.Otto is improving his leash skills and will need a confident handler who can provide structure on his walks, as he can be super interested in critters and the world around him. He is looking for a loving family to continue to teach him new tricks and give him a whole lot of love.If you’re looking for an insanely good-looking dog with loads of potential, choose Otto! Please Note: All dogs are posted on our website until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at www.lasthopek9.org.
