Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $500 plus taxViola (aka Roxy) is a sweet little girl....shy at meeting new people so need to give her a few minutes and she will gradually approach and sniff you. Once she realizes you are ok, she will warm up to you. Viola is a dog who does best if there is another dog in the home. She loves to play with other dogs and is more relaxed if she has a buddy to hang out with. She is fine with cats....pretty much ignores them.  She is used to being in a kennel for long periods of time and is quiet when kenneled. She appears to be potty trained and doesn't mess in her kennel either. She is not a big barker right now as she is a bit insecure.... But that could change the more confident she becomes. It took awhile for her to want to crawl in my lap and seek petting, but with encouragement and realizing it felt pretty good to snuggle on my lap and get attention, she is becoming more comfortable with it.  She would be a wonderful addition to any family! If you are interested in adopting or fostering, submit an application!  You will then be teamed up with our Placement Team to move forward in the process, ask questions, and figure out the best potential match possible.  Given the right circumstances, you may be able to foster first before making an adoption official as well through our Adoption Hold program. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. We accept Credit cards, Debit cards as well as cash. At this time we do not accept checks. Our Adoption fees for all animals cover required vetting: which includes, Rabies, Distemper Vaccine Series, Bordetella, Deworming, Heartworm Test as age appropriate, Spay or Neuter and Microchip and registration. Adoption Fees are Non Negotialble. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    DOB: 02/08/2021 Requires another dog in home: No, picky about her friends Okay with dogs of all sizes: Not good with small dogs - read more in profile  Okay with cats: No, dog savvy cats only Okay with children under 12 years old: Older, considerate kids only Requires a fenced yard: No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Raquel. I am a stunning, wrinkly-faced young adult female Belgian Malinois/Boxer mix with an adorable underbite who’s the perfect mix of energetic and relaxed. I am an unpredictable gal with a high prey drive so cats are not a good fit for me; I’m reactive when it comes to other dogs or unknown/sudden sounds like bikes whizzing by etc.; and I’m a pack follower so if there’s a fight, I may feel compelled to join the chaos. That said, I went to a training facility where there were many other dogs and I did great so I think with time, patience, and continued training I may overcome these ‘quirks’ of mine!! Hee, hee! Anyway, my favorite activities include cuddling with my people; going for leashed walks; snoozing on the couch; eating; playing with squeaky toys; chewing on bones/sticks; chasing the cat; chilling with my canine sib; running zoomies; and barking at strangers outside! I don’t like a lot of commotion and have been known to bite if someone comes into the house when foster mom is not home. I am, however, a very smart girl who will not only give myself a kenneled ‘time-out’ if I’m barking too much but I am potty trained and I know commands like “sit”, “down”, “kennel/crate”, and “heel”! Seriously, how brilliant am I!?! I am a great listener too which makes training a lot easier! Hee, hee!! I know that I’m a bit unpredictable right now but I’m still young and I really am a sweetheart who simply wants to find unconditional love in my own furever home with a patient family who will NEVER give up on me! My heart is SO full of love that I really want to share with YOU…please be my new family, I assure you I’m worth it! Love Raquel NOTE: Raquel has had a DNA test and is 38% Belgian Malinois, 18% Boxer and 17% American Pitbull Terrier Note that this dog has been treated for heartworm  and will need monthly heartworm preventatives year round for life.  Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.      ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Abel is affectionate, playful, smart, and obedient. He's also house-trained and a loyal companion who loves to cuddle, especially with his head on your lap, and is always ready for belly rubs. Abel enjoys a solid 10 hours of sleep, as long as you’re right there sleeping, too. He settles beautifully after a 5-10 minute romp with a ball or frisbee, a game of hide-and-seek, or a nice walk filled with plenty of sniffing and marking. And while he might pull a bit (okay, maybe a lot) on his walks, he’s well-mannered in the home. He even knows a few tricks and performs with or without treats! You can trust Abel to be calm and content when left out of his kennel for several hours—his longest solo time was seven hours, and he simply rested and kept watch for any "dangerous" Amazon trucks. Abel would love a home without kids or other animals, where he can relax without being disturbed during meals. He’s independent about his space and prefers not to be poked or prodded. When grandkids or visitors are over, he happily hangs out in the bedroom if needed. Truly, Abel is an easygoing guy who’s ready to bring so much love to the right home. He has a few quirks, but don’t we all?   Abel does take an oral medication twice a day to help prevent seizures.    Abel is from an owner surrender. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an   adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Amara, also known as Mama, is an absolute sweetheart who loves to be close by. When she's separated, she can get a bit vocal, but that's just her way of showing how much she loves company. She's a pro at playing fetch with her ball and knows basic commands, showing how obedient and eager to please she is. Click here and here for some cute videos of her playing! With her quick learning skills, she's bound to pick up even more. Amara enjoys walks and loves to sniff everything along the way. While she pulls on the leash and barks at other dogs, she responds well to redirection. She’s known to be playful with other dogs but tends to bark at them first. In her previous home, she lived with two other dogs and was trusted to free roam when her owner was out. Amara has been great with everyone she’s met, and while she hasn’t interacted with children yet, her sweet nature suggests she’d do wonderfully with them too. Amara is from Owner Surrender. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, my name is Diego! In my foster home, I also go by "Good Boy", "Big Dog", and "Little Goblin" - that last one is because of my ears, not because I have any goblin tendencies! My foster mom says I'm a handsome sweetheart and that I deserve a happily ever after, so she made me a profile in hopes of finding my perfect match:   Putting my best paw forward - these are things I like or excel at: People! (Friendly with adults and dog-savvy kids) Toys! (The squeakier, the better) My toy collection! (I’m gentle with my toys and sometimes even treat them like a pacifier) The great outdoors! (I love being outside, exploring the fenced yard, and listening to the birds) Treats! (I’m treat-motivated and take treats very gently) Sit! Down! Off! Come! (I know these commands well) Expressing myself vocally! (I can be a talker and like to share my thoughts) House trained! Crate trained! (I’ll go into my crate when needed, though it’s not my favorite. I’m very trustworthy when left on my own outside of the crate) Staying active! (I love being active and exploring) Modeling! Cuddling and Relaxing! (I enjoy curling up on the couch in the evenings or working on a nylabone while my foster pawrents watch football.) I’m always trying to be a good boy - here’s what I’m working on: Leash training Making dog friends (I’m slowly getting to know my foster brother) Something else you should know about me: I’m on medication for seizures, but my foster mom hasn’t seen any since I’ve been in rescue. Think you might be my forever after? Fill out an application so we can arrange our first date! Check out how awesome I did on WCCO!! https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/video/forever-home-friday-meet-diego/   *A generous supporter has paid part of Diego's adoption fee to help him find a loving home.* Diego is from a local impound.
