We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). Approximate age / Weight: 1.5 yrs old and 50 lbs. Personality: Looking to upgrade your health routine with a personal trainer who also moonlights as a cuddle buddy? Meet Arnold! This energetic 1.5-year-old, 50-pound bundle of joy is not just any dog; he’s your new wellness coach. Arnold will have you marching on long walks, sharing your snacks (yes, he’s got his eyes on those extra calories), and snuggling up to ensure you don’t sneak away for a midnight snack. Think of him as your fitness guru with a side of fluff. Arnold came to Waggin’ Tails from Detroit Animal Control in the summer of 2023, and though he had a rough start with an injury that required hip replacement surgery, he’s bounced back like the champ he is. Now, he’s all about living life to the fullest—fetching, playing, and probably eyeing your workout gear with a “Let’s go!” look. He may not be the best fit for dog parks or daycare, especially if you’re a male husky, but he’s a charmer with lady dogs and always respects their personal space. Arnold is a water-loving dynamo, so if you’re into swimming, he’s your guy. Looking for a high-energy companion who’ll keep you on your toes (and off the couch)? Arnold is adaptable to various home environments, as long as he gets his share of exercise and mental stimulation. If you’re up for the challenge of keeping up with this lively pup, he’s ready to keep pace with you and make your life a whole lot more fun. Story
Myra was pulled into MAD Rescue after being pulled from a Miami shelter with a broken jaw and several bite wounds. After several months of extensive healing with her amazing medical foster, Myra has made a full recovery! This was only made possible thanks to the generosity of our amazing MAD supporters that raised the money for her surgery. Thanks to our amazing community, Myra is now 100% recovered and is available for adoption! Myra has shown to be a super sweet but shy girl. She takes some time to warm up to new people, but once she does she is a sweetheart! She has been great with all resident dogs and children too! Myra loves playing with toys and enjoys car rides!  She is not good with cats, and is very sensitive to loud noises like shouting. She needs a loving family to teach her some confidence and help her be the dog we know she can be!  If you are interested in adopting this pet please complete an application at this link https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/24689/generic.  We are an official 501c3 organization that does not have a physical location. Story
Sweet Trooper is 1 1/2 and has arrived in rescue needing significant medical care.  Surgeries are scheduled and he's on his way to healing.  One thing he is working on is kennel anxiety, to the point of where he can hurt himself. He has settled in with his foster and more information will be available soon. Ideally, Trooper needs a person that works from home. He is pretty much a velcro dog that needs to take it easy. Minimal kennel time needed. If you are interested in adopting this pet please complete an application at this link https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/24689/generic.  ******************************************* All dogs come with a Fi tracking collar and a one-year subscription to the GPS service.
