Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: Unknown, likely noGood with kids: Yes, dog-savvy childrenCrate trained: YesHouse Trained: YesOtto is a beautiful boy with a sweet, playful spirit! He is a medium energy dog who is hoping for a family who wants to include him in all the fun! He’s happy to attend weeknight soccer practice, movie nights, brewery weekends and all the adventures in between. Otto is currently fostered in a multidog household and loves playing with other dogs. He takes other dogs cues well, and entertains himself with toys when his doggy friends are all done playing. With his playful nature he would likely not be a great fit for cats. He has a larger-than-life personality, loves everyone, and wants everyone to love him back. The word “stranger” isn’t in Otto’s vocabulary as he makes friends everywhere he goes. Otto has done wonderfully meeting children; he sometimes forgets his size, so dog-savvy children would be best for him. He’s super sharp, conquering new skills with lightning speed, he has already mastered sit and walks like a champ on leash. Otto is fully house and crate trained. He sleeps soundly in his crate overnight and can be crated throughout the day. He is looking for a loving family to continue to teach him new tricks and give him a whole lot of love. Otto would make a wonderful companion, and can’t wait to be part of a family. If you’re looking for an insanely good-looking dog with loads of potential, choose Otto! Please Note: All dogs are posted on our website until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at www.lasthopek9.org. Story
Please help me find Ozzy a new forever home! He is a wonderful 5 month old German shepherd/belgian malinois mix that requires a lot of training and exercise. I would love to keep him but my busy work schedule does not allow me to provide the adequate attention that he needs. Ozzy loves to play fetch and play soccer with tennis balls. He is very affectionate but also very protective too. He will make a great pet for an owner who is very active and loves to play. The reasoning behind trying to re-home Ozzy is simply due to the fact that I am not the right fit for him. I love him and want him to be in a home that is better suited for what he needs. And what he needs is a lot of attention and a big yard to run around in. Unfortunately, due to my busy schedule, I cannot provide Ozzy with the necessary exercise and attention.

Story
adoption donation : $499 weight 70 lbs  Age: 5 years (DOB 12/9/2019)       Mellie is a purebred AKC registered Belgian Malinois and an awesome dog, she bonds  strongly to her people, is affectionate and loving, and as long as she gets the exercise she needs she is extremely chill in the house and just an easy dog who will make a great companion. Mellie does need a good amount of exercise, she walks well on a leash and will absolutely adore anyone who will throw a ball for her, she can play fetch for hours! Mellie  gets along with other dogs but can be dominant so she needs an owner who will respect her breed and understand that she needs a careful introduction to new dogs.  Mellie is currently in a foster home with a man who is actually a dog trainer and she is learning basic commands, she can sit and stay, lay down and heal. The family recently took in to German Shepherds, a male and a female and Mellie is doing fine with them. Mellie sleeps in a crate at night. Mellie was  originally bought from a breeder by a family who recently had young children and no longer had time for Mellie.  The dog trainer offered to take Mellie and help find her an home. Mellie has had her vaccinations but is not yet spayed. Wags will take care of her spay before an adoption or reimburse the cost at one of the clinics the rescue uses if she is adopted before her spay. Mellie is a great dog who ideally would be best in a home with someone who knows the breed and can give her the structure and exercise she needs.       Wags is a struggling 501(c) 3 where one woman in rural Mississippi takes care of about 150 homeless and stray dogs.  Adoption donations are the only source of funding for the rescue. Adoption fee includes the transport from Mississippi, vaccines, microchip and spay and neuter at one of the clinics we use. For more information on adopting Mellie please email mariaeftimiades@yahoo.com    December 29, 2024, 1:51 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. DeeDee and her sister DOLLY was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 24th September.  We post in east coast states and Canada as we have many families adopt and are happy to make the worthwhile trip up to the rescue. We do not always have time to post all the pictures on each dogs individual page, but we do post a lot of photo's on the rescue Facebook page. DeeDee is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of September 2023 and on 22 September weighed 50 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. The shelter noted the following on 2 September about both girls who were taken to the play group individually: Not feeling quite confident on the leash yet, was carried to the yard. She wasn't feeling confident enough to join in with the others at this time. She was standoffish and could feel overwhelmed at times.   Kennel visit - 5 September Stayed on bed and was licking my hands but when I went to pet her she kept flinching and moving her head. Got off the bed and continued to lick hands but still flinched when tried to pet her. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks.  She does need an active family who will ensure she gets all the exercise, both mentally and physically that she needs to live a happy fulfilling life. DeeDee is available for an adoption fee of $550 or if adopted with her sister DOLLY the adoption fee is $1,000 for both girls. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue in SEBEC, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. Link to the adoption application! Click here to watch a video of DeeDee.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 24, 2024, 7:31 pm
