Story
Meet Mussa, a sweet Belgian Malinois with a unique twist—one adorable, quirky deformed ear that only adds to her charm! Mussa is as nice as they come, making her a joy to walk with her easy-going nature. She`s also very trainable, always eager to learn new things! When she`s not strutting her stuff on walks, Mussa loves tummy rubs and rolling around in the grass.Mussa is totally house trained and her foster family says she has all the basic commands mastered. She`s been excellent around children and the elderly. Unlike most Malinois dogs, Mussa is chill and cuddly and isn`t bouncing off the walls.Mussa does like to collect things from around her foster family`s home, but have no fear- she`s not chewing on them, she`s just snuggling with them. So if you adopt Mussa and are looking for one of your shoes or that jar of peanuts, you might want to go see if Mussa`s decided she needs some items to nest with.If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’ll keep you smiling with her playful personality, Mussa is your girl! Reach out to her foster family to learn more or go ahead and submit an adoption questionnaire!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Louie was surrendered to Humane Society of Wicomico County because of a negligent owner, who did not provide the proper training to a Belgian Malinois Shepherd mix, which resulted in Louie killing his neighbor's goats. He is a smart, young beautiful dog, and very sweet with humans. A Belgian Malinois mix is a working breed that does  best in a home that is active and willing to provide training, and guidance.  Louie will require a strong leader and someone willing to work with him.   Louie is receiving training at the shelter and learning SIT and LEAVE IT. He is treat motivated. Louie seems to want to pull towards other dogs, we are not sure yet if he is aggressive towards them or wants to play. There is a video of him approaching a dog in a yard in a playful, non-aggressive manner. He may be dog selective.  Louie would not do well around small children. Older children who understand how to play with a dog may be okay He would do well with a fenced yard so he cannot have free range and go off property. Louis is definitely stressed out in the shelter environment.   Because our shelter is full, he is at risk of being euthanized to make space for others.  See more about Louie using the following link:  https://www.wicomicohumane.org/animals/chooie-looie/ PLEASE NOTE : THE DOG LISTED IS SHOWN AS A COURTESY TO ANOTHER ORGANIZATION OR FOR AN INDIVIDUAL WHO NEEDS TO FIND A NEW HOME FOR THEIR DOG. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- WAFFLES IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR AN INDIVIDUAL ASKING TO REHOME THEIR DOG. PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW. Waffles was born April 5th, 2021. She is 45-50 pounds,  Spayed, and up to date on shots. Waffles is NOT good with cats or small dogs. No young children due to her high energy. Understands basic commands. (Sit, down, stay, come). She gets along with other big dogs with slow introductions. Waffles loves to be around her 'person', will roll onto her back for belly rubs. Crate trained but sleeps well outside the crate once she's used to her surroundings. She will easily jump a 4' fence and can unlock a gate so extra fenced security is needed for adoption. She LOVES her Kong!!If you are interested in adopting Waffles please contact Tracy at Tljaneski@gmail.com.  443-536-4076. Waffles is being fostered in Westminster MD.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 27, 2024, 3:34 pm

I am looking for a nice loving family who will give him the love that he deserves. I want a family that will treat him like part of the family and not treat him like a fighting dog. The adjectives that describe Gizmo are playful, active, energetic, handsome.

Story
Meet Ranger, the intelligent and active Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and boundless energy. This handsome boy is a fast learner and has mastered essential commands like sit, down, wait, and shake. He's so clever that he tackled a level 3 puzzle on his first try! Ranger is a well-behaved and well-trained pup, making him a pleasure to have around the house. He's house trained, crate trained, and shows no signs of destructiveness indoors. However, he does experience some separation anxiety when his human leaves the house, which is why he's kept in his crate during errands. But don't worry, when he's playing in the backyard with his furry friend, he's perfectly content and doesn't exhibit any separation anxiety. Ranger is an active boy who loves going on walks, and he'll gladly accompany you on all your outdoor adventures. While Ranger is intelligent and affectionate, he can be barrier reactive, meaning he may react when he encounters certain barriers or boundaries. Patience and positive reinforcement training can help him overcome this behavior. This is very typical behavior for both breeds and he absolutely has to be adopted into a Mali/GSD knowledgeable family/ Ranger was in pretty rough shape when rescued and the vet initially thought he had an intestinal disease. Nothing was definitively diagnosed but the vet believes he has small intestinal issues. He is on a folate vitamin daily and will just need annual lab work and a high quality RAW FOOD diet. Ranger's charm and charisma shine through in the photos and videos provided, capturing his playful and loving nature. If you're looking for a smart, active, and affectionate companion, Ranger is the perfect match. Give him the love and care he deserves, and he'll reward you with loyalty and companionship like no other. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

DESCRIPTION:  Apollo's owner loved him greatly but struggled to keep him safe and in the household. As a result, Apollo spent too much time wandering about the neighborhood and checking in with the neighbors.  Unfortunately, this resulted in too many trips to animal control. Due to his frequent visits, Animal Control decided that Apollo would be safer if he moved forward with a new family.  Apollo is a big, sweet guy. Although it is clear that he has not had a lot of structure prior to his arrival, he is a quick learner and seems to prefer a calm yet confident handler. Apollo has lived with a couple of cats and has done well with them. He seems unaffected by their presence and is calm with them around. Having met a variety of dogs in his travels, Apollo has made it clear that he can live peacefully with another dog. However, he is not a big fan of high-energy dogs who get in his face. We can't blame him for setting his boundaries. Apollo is looking for a forever home that will provide him with the guidance and routine that will help him thrive. He will benefit greatly from training with his new family. This will not only help him bond to his new family but it will also help him develop the skills needed to become a good canine citizen. If your household is looking for a big, laid back guy, ask to meet Apollo today! October 28, 2024, 7:35 pm

Story
DESCRIPTION:  Beautiful Bailey was adored by her family. They knew she was a special girl and ensured that she had endless love, attention, and plenty of toys. However, when an unexpected event took place, they were unable to keep Bailey and provide her with the life they knew she deserved. Recognizing that we would provide Bailey with everything she needed to meet with success, her family made the heartbreaking decision to return her to the MAGSR. Knowing this was a very difficult decision, we promised we would find Bailey the perfect forever family.  Bailey is an active, intelligent, and playful girl. She loves her people fiercely and gives them every ounce of affection she has. With some very strong GSD traits, Bailey is loyal, protective, and on point. She tends to notice everything around her and keeps an eye on her people at all times.  As a girl with a high prey drive, smaller creatures can be a little too enticing for Bailey. She finds joy in chasing small creatures, such as rabbits and squirrels, and will need to be monitored closely if they are out and about with her. Fond of the outdoors, Bailey is always up for a long walk, hike, or adventure. She takes cues well from the handler and knows many commands. Lucky to have lived in a loving household for a few years, Bailey has developed a solid understanding of and appreciation for toys; she is hoping her forever family enjoys them too! She loves to play ball and can't help but enjoy a good squeaky toy. With a few years of experience living in a home, Bailey has also developed an affinity for a soft bed. She loves cuddling up on her dog bed and doesn't mind having a dog bed or two in the house just to change up viewpoints throughout the day. Although Bailey is crate trained and housebroken, once settled, she prefers to be out and about. This seems to keep her more settled throughout the day. As is true of all shepherds Bailey will thrive with structure, routine, and leadership. Providing clear boundaries and expectations will help Bailey meet with success. Bailey has already completed some basic training; however, she is always up for more! Continued training is essential to Bailey's success. Not only will it help her develop her canine citizenship skills, but it will also help her develop a strong and healthy bond with her forever family.  October 28, 2024, 7:35 pm

Story
DESCRIPTION: The Fall puppies - Autumn, Cider, Ember, Maple, Pumpkin, and Sweet Potato (Tator) - were an accidental litter. Raised together with their parents, these dogs have had the chance to learn many doggy social skills. Although their human family enjoyed the puppies, it can be difficult to care for a large litter and challenging to find safe and loving homes. Recognizing that the Fall puppies would be most successful if placed within a breed specific rescue, their family contacted MAGSR. We promised that we would find each pup a safe and loving forever family that would cherish these babies for a lifetime.  The Fall puppies are very large babies for their age. They are clearly big fans of food. Having spent time outside, these babies love the sights, sounds, and smells of the outdoors. So, they are hoping their forever families love adventures. Although these babies have been socialized well with their doggy family, they have not been exposed to many new people or situations. Socialization is critical to their success. Recognizing that social skills are essential as the Fall puppies move forward, our amazing volunteers are already beginning this process. Learning the ins and outs of living in a household, these babies are learning the joys of endless toys, comfortable beds, and loads of love. As they continue to move forward, all six babies will strive in households that will provide the structure, routine, and leadership that all shepherds crave.  Although these babies are absolutely adorable, please remember that puppies are a lot of work. Puppies will whine, chew, have accidents, and fill your home with endless antics. With time, training, and patience, all 6 babies - Autumn, Cider, Ember, Maple, Pumpkin, and Sweet Potato - will develop into good canine citizens. If one of the Fall puppies sounds like the right match for your household, ask to meet these fluffy bundles of joy today! October 28, 2024, 7:35 pm
