Story
hi Thomas, this stunning guy is a 1 year old Belgian Shepherd. He found himself in trouble when his owner surrendered him to a local animal control shelter. Thankfully. we were able to step in and help him. The previous owner for Thomas claims that he has lived with kids but he was too big for them so he brought him to a shelter. In the shelter, Thomas was very stressed and nervous, not surprising, so he was difficult to handle. Thankfully, our resident Mal expert Bruno was able to make a trip to the shelter to assess him. After taking him out of the kennel, he had no trouble handling him so he brought him to the rescue. Thomas is the world's worst mal - so much so, Bruno is embarrassed for him. While high energy, he has zero drive. He had no interest in regular toys, bite toys. Thomas is relying purely on his absolutely stunning, wolf-like looks. He wants to be the trophy pet that will get the enjoyed the good, spoiled, active life. Having said all that, he is looking for an adult only home that is experienced with the breed. While he has lived with kids before, due to the fearful and anxious behavior he has showed in the shelter both at ACCT and our rescue, he will not be placed with children. He will make a great pet for the right person who is looking for a non-working mal. He would need to meet any resident dogs. He will come neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested. If you are serious about adoption, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com His adoption fee is $300. hi Njord! This handsome boy is an aprox. 2 1/2 old Belgian Shepherd. He and his friend Skadi came to us through our friends in Baltimore. They came as strays so we do not know much about them before their life with us. What a silly boy! Njord is a smart, athletic dog that is looking for a breed experienced home. He and Skadi have been playing with us in the play-yards and running around checking out all the toys and new smells. Njord really gets along with Skadi an would love to be adopted with her but can also be adopted separately. He would really enjoy another dog in home to play with. He will come neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and 4dx tested. **If you are serious about adoption, please check out the FAQ's on our adoption page and then fill out the adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com His adoption fee is $350*

Hi Skadi! This pretty girl is a aprox. 2 1/2 year old Belgian Shepherd. She and her friend Njord came to us through our friends in Baltimore. They came as strays so we do not know much about them before their life with us. Such a fun dog! Skadi loves running around the play-yards and giving drive-by kisses to the volunteers. She is a smart, energetic and active dog that is looking for a breed experienced home. She will be an incredible companion for hikes, runs and any adventures you may have planned. Skadi really gets along with Njord and would love to be adopted with him but can also be adopted separately. Story
hi Sergeant! This handsome fellow is a 4-year-old Belgian shepherd. He was found as a stray in Philadelphia and brought to the local animal control shelter. When nobody came forward to claim him, we quickly scooped him up and brought him to us. He is 54 lbs. Sergent is amazing. He has been easy going and friendly with all volunteers. He responds well to our commands, knows sit and walks well on the leash. While he is a bit too skinny, he clearly had a pretty good home at one point of his life that put in the effort to socialize him well. We would consider him an "easier Belgian" though he is still a very smart boy that loves activity. He is looking for an experienced family that will continue working with him and help him continue gain weight. While 54 lbs doesn't sound too bad for a mal, he is taller than your average Belgian. He would need to meet any resident dogs. He will come neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and 4dx tested. **If you are serious about adoption, please start by filling out the adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com His adoption fee is $450** Phoenix Animal Rescue Chester Springs, PA 19425 Kennel License #5152

Story
hi Jupiter! This amazing boy is a 2 year old Belgian shepherd. He was surrendered by his family to the local animal control shelter because the owner was disabled and using a cane and could not keep up with him. He is about 65 lbs. We may be just a bit obsessed with Jupiter. He was nervous at the animal control, but once he came to us, he's been nothing short of amazing. His prior owner reported that he lived with a cat, is friendly, happy and active. He knows a few basic commands and is overall a very good boy. With us, he has been a big hugger, very affectionate with our volunteers. He loves the outdoors and is curious about his surroundings. For shepherd experienced families considering their first mal, he would be a great "starter mal". He will need to meet any resident dogs. He will come neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and 4dx tested. He is positive for heartworm and is currently undergoing treatment. He can be adopted during the treatment and the rescue will continue to support him medically during this. **If you are serious about adoption, please fill out the adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com His adoption fee is $450** Phoenix Animal Rescue Chester Springs, Pa Kennel License #5152

Story
hi Mike, this stunner is an 8 month old Belgian Shepherd. He and his brother were surrendered to us from Lancaster when they did not sell. He is 75 lbs. Built like a German (taller and more sturdy) but with looks and behavior like a Mal, this boy is truly amazing. He has allowed us all handling and did well on the leash. He was a bit hesitant at first, but quickly figured out that we are all smitten with him and he has been great! He is a smart, very active boy that is looking for an equally active family to keep up with him. He would need to meet any resident dogs. He will only be placed with a Belgian experienced family. He will come neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, 4dx tested. **If you are serious about adoption, please start by filling out the adoption application on our website www.phoenixanimalrescue.com His adoption fee is $450** Phoenix Animal Rescue Chester Springs, PA Kennel License #5152

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit that rescues and places homeless, neglected or abused dogs from high-kill shelters in the south into loving, responsible committed and permanent homes. We feel our comprehensive adoption process which includes not only taking the time to match the dog to the prospective new owner but helping to educate that owner in responsible dog care, allows us to find the best homes for our little buddies and the best companions for you! Each week we use USDA certified transports to bring dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to our fosters where they all receive the appropriate medical care and are placed in nurturing loving homes while they await placement in their forever homes. Interested in one of our dogs? Great! Now that you've seen them here you'll need to go to our website where you'll find our list of adoptable dogs (updated every week). Then, it's just a simple process of finding a dog you're interested in and filling out an application on our site. Once we receive your application, whoever is fostering that particular dog will contact you and do a short over the phone interview to complete your application process. If everything works out, they will set an appointment with you so come out and "visit" with the dog you're interested in (we want to make sure that not only are you a good fit for the dog but that the dog will fit with you). If everything works out, you'll be able to take rover (or spot, or jax) home with you that very day. A couple of things you should know: We can't hold dogs over the phone or via email. Adoption fees vary based on breed. All of our dogs have been vet checked and dewormed (if possible due to age, additional treatment may be needed). We provide a spay or neuter voucher to all of our adopters. &#226&#128&#139 March 13, 2025, 4:23 pm
