Story
Rizzo was rescued from an apartment eviction in Feb 2024 and we have been fostering her since. She is a beautiful, intelligent, energetic pup, and we estimate her age to be approx. 1 year old (Born Oct 2023). Very smart and clever, Rizzo is eager to please and easily learns new training. She has simply outgrown our accommodations and needs room to run. We can see that she would make an excellent companion dog on a cattle or horse ranch, or could be trained as a working dog in a similar environment. She prefers human companionship and gets bored when she is alone. We have two indoor cats that she has a great respect for, but outdoor critters are (in her eyes) intruders and she is very vocal about them and wants to play “chase” every chance she gets with them! We also have two other dogs whom Rizzo plays well with (although she is much younger, much larger, and MUCH more exuberant), but we have not successfully socialized her with neighbor dogs. We would love to see her in a great home.

Story
Emmett is a handsome boy! His dob is 06/20/2017 and he's a brown and black Belgian Shepherd Malinois/American Bulldog mix. He was brought to us when his owners could no longer care for him. He has spent most of his life as a mostly-outdoor dog with other dogs, in a home where he suffered from a lot of separation anxiety. Unfortunately for Emmett, his people in the past have failed him. Emmett needs a person that's going to do right by him! He is motivated by affection and toys, but is very picky about his treats. He can be a little mischievous and likes to see what he can get away with, so he needs a firm leader who can spend a lot of time working with him. We have seen that he learns quickly with basic training. We think he could also learn by example with some well-mannered dog siblings. It has been observed that he rarely barks, and when he does it's quiet and sort of raspy. Emmett is often found observing things going on around him. He does not get along with cats, chickens, or other small animals, as he has a decent amount of prey drive. He loves to follow his favorite people around and get scratches, and his favorite game is wrestling. He does seem to be house-trained, and does fine for short periods of time in a large kennel. All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open form 9am-4pm, seven days a week. Story
Meet Pugsley, a charming 6-year-old weighing in at 70 lbs. When Pugsley first arrived at our shelter, he was a bit on the shy side, but he’s quickly blossoming into a delightful companion. Although he’s not particularly interested in toys at the moment, Pugsley absolutely adores attention and treats. He is very gentle when accepting treats from people, showcasing his sweet nature. Pugsley is familiar with the "Sit" command, though he could use a bit more practice to perfect it. One of his endearing habits is to express his desire for more food by picking up his bowl and sitting patiently, hoping to catch your attention. If you happen to walk away, he may drop the bowl and from his height, it makes a noticeable clatter. Pugsley is on his way to becoming a wonderful companion, and we’re eager to see him find a loving forever home.Breed is based on physical features. Story
Meet Wednesday, a sweet six-year-old pup who currently weighs 50 lbs but ideally should be around 65 lbs. When she first arrived at our shelter, she was quite underweight and very timid. However, with some tender loving care, Wednesday is now looking healthier and is starting to trust us. She has a good appetite and is showing a positive response to those around her. Wednesday is already familiar with the "Sit" command and is a pleasure to walk on a leash. While she may not be interested in toys just yet, she absolutely adores human attention and is incredibly gentle when accepting treats from people. We're confident that with continued care and affection, Wednesday will continue to thrive. Come visit her at our shelter and see if she might be the perfect addition to your family!Breed is based on physical features. All shelter animals are considered to be a mixture of breeds.
