Story
Sargant is 4. Born and raised in Helena. We have had him since he was a puppy. He is fantastic with kids and other dogs. He loves being outside with the other dogs running around and playing in the creek. He will follow you anywhere. Very energetic. Does not like being in a kennel whether it large pen or crate. Was trained to stay on property with invisible fence. He does not like cats and will kill them. He also has become more aggressive with my horses. It was just occasional when letting them out to run. However, it is happening more and he has bit each of them causing them to start kicking. I have tried everything to get him to stop and will be good for a bit then goes right back to it. He now will bite at them while they are eating or laying down. We hate to see him go but can't have this continue for the safety of our horses, other dogs, and us working with the horses now that they are kicking out. Would love for him to go to another home with plenty of room to run & play.

Story
MEET RED! Red is a 1-1/2-year old loving and highly intelligent dog in need of a forever home! He is currently in a foster home. Red is great mix of smart and loyal breeds. He is part German Shepherd and Rottweiler, with a few other breeds like Border Collie and Australian Shepherd thrown in. (We did a DNA test - we're happy to share it!). Red is such a great dog in many ways: He is dog friendly, kid friendly and active. He is eager to learn, and will be excited to continue his training with a human companion. (He currently went through obedience training!). He does well off leash on walks in the country, and has wonderful recall. Once he knows you, he does not run off. He is constantly looking for fun things to chase but will look to you for permission and “leave it” when told. Red is also praise motivated and a fast learner. He gets along well with other dogs (loves dog parks!) but needs some gentle correction when he first meets friends because he excites easily at play time. He loves to romp with similar energy dogs, and he would thrive in a pack. He has a strong prey drive, but with proper instruction he has left the cat alone in his current foster home. He is always looking to his person for guidance and commands. Red is also great with all people once he has been slowly introduced to them as his desire to guard his family comes naturally to him. He is not toy or food aggressive, and is crate trained. He loves going for car rides and can be left alone while running errands (he does get car sick now and then). For long trips he may need medication until he hopefully grows out of it. He gets bored easily, should not be left outside in the yard unattended and would do best with someone who works from home or is retired, and who can give him the exercise and stimulation he needs. At the end of the day, Red enjoys lying by your feet or next to you on a couch. He is a snuggler and wants to be close to his people. He's such an awesome dog and companion. If you are looking for a sweet, loyal and active dog and are excited to continue to be his partner in training, Red would be perfect for you. He weighs 70 lbs. Please email for an application.

Story
MEET GRACE & KATIE, two beautiful, sweet & bonded black German Shepherds! Both of these lovely girls were rescued from a crowded California shelter, and they are very bonded. Grace & Katie are good with other dogs and lovely with people. Grace, the mama dog, is about 5-6 years old, and Katie is a 2-year-old girl now and growing up! Both girls have also done fairly well around cats but would need to be monitored. Katie weighs about 60-65 lbs, and Grace weighs about 71-75 lbs. They've waited a long time for a home because we are trying to place them together, so if you can open your home to two dogs, please email for an application. They also need a foster! We also offer discounted adoption fees for pairs.
