Story
We rescued Sidney from a horrific shelter in Memphis, TN. When we got him, he was skin and bones and had some barrier aggression issues (who knows what horrors he suffered there) It didn't take long for Sidney to realize he was now safe and could start letting down his guard. Sidney Poitier has filled out and is truly a stunning dog. Sidney is about 2 years old, and is at his healthy weight of 80 lbs. Sidney is a very intelligent fellow, he learns quicky and is anxious to please. He will do well with a job and/or a lot of stimulation, long walks and hikes. He will do well with an experienced dog person. Sidney loves meeting new people. He has done well with large dogs he has met, however he is would not be good with small dogs or cats. Sidney does show barrier reactivity, however, when the barrier is removed (whether it is a crate, fence or car window) he show absolutely no issues. Because Sidney likes a lot of activity, he will need a securely fenced yard (must be a physical fence, not an electric or invisible system)  He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and on monthly treatment for flea/ticks and heartworm prevention Sidney is currently located in the Middle TN area but transport is included in the adoption fee for approved adopter If you are interested in Sidney Poitier, email cox_ann@bellsouth.net for an application

Story
Meet Nana, one of the most affectionate and gentle German Shepherds you'll ever encounter. Originally found as a stray, she arrived at the shelter scared and withdrawn, unsure of her surroundings. However, it didn't take long for Nana's sweet nature to shine through, and she quickly became a favorite among the shelter staff. Nana responds beautifully to her name, thanks to a microchip that revealed her original name and helped her bond even more with those around her. She knows a range of cues, including sit, paw, down, and kisses, delighting in each chance to interact and learn. Nana is an intelligent, active dog who needs plenty of mental and physical stimulation to keep her happy. While she isn't fond of crates, she does very well with open confinement as long as she has a variety of enrichment activities, like toys, snuffle mats, and lick mats, to keep her engaged. True to her breed, Nana thrives on daily exercise and enrichment, and she's always ready for a new challenge. She's shown to be a bit conflicted and avoidant around other dogs, preferring a quieter environment where she can be the sole canine focus. Nana's loyalty and loving disposition make her a wonderful companion for a family looking to share their lives with a devoted German Shepherd.
